Summary
Taking on a horde of demon possessed vampires? Time to get wicked.
You’d think when a plague that threatens all of vampire kind (not to mention the world) is afoot, alerting the Vampire Council would be the responsible thing to do…
I was too late…and now the already-possessed council is coming after me.
If only I could access the infernal power Edwin brought with him when he bound himself to me in hell…
There is one item that might allow me to tap into that power: a flambeaux once made by the Witch of Endor.
Unfortunately, the infernal object is guarded by Cajun werewolves and the nasty ghost of a voodoo priestess. Not to mention, the possessed council is trying to get the item themselves.
To get there first, to claim the object, I’ll have to be ruthless. I’ll have to embrace my inner darkness. I’ll have to be bloody wicked. Hell, it’s only the fate of the whole world that depends on it.

Baskerville Book Reviews
Book 3 and book 4 in this series are both rather short (audiobook-wise). 3/4 of the story is essentially just business being taken care of. I wouldn’t call it boring, but I wouldn’t call it exciting either. It’s just needed setup. I brought up book 4 because I think it would have been better if they had been a single book.
The final fourth of the book more than makes up for it in my opinion. Though I’m also biased. I already really, really, really enjoy this literary universe, and Mercy Brown is pretty much tied with Nicky as my flavorite character in it.
One thing about this audiobook that truly shines is the narration. At one point, the narrator was doing male voices and effects and I genuinely forgot that the narrator was female. Most female narrators are lacking in the male-voice department, but I don’t hold it against them. This is a rare case of the opposite of that. The narration overall is excellent though.

Cracking series
So, book three. A little different this one and all the better for it. It starts off at a reasonable level and the ramps up and up to an ending I certainly didn’t see coming. What’s book four going to be like I wonder. This is a cracking series, one which I wasn’t sure I would like, boy has that changed. Highly recommended listen.
