Tam Hashford is tired of working at her local pub, slinging drinks for world-famous mercenaries and listening to the bards sing of adventure and glory in the world beyond her sleepy hometown.
When the biggest mercenary band of all rolls into town, led by the infamous Bloody Rose, Tam jumps at the chance to sign on as their bard. It's adventure she wants-and adventure she gets as the crew embark on a quest that will end in one of two ways: glory or death.

Better than Kings of the Wlyd.
Set in the aftermath of Kings of the Wlyd but following Bloody Rose and her band Fable. Great story, great narration.

Truly Awesome.
I don't think a sequel has ever outdone its predecessor, and neither has this, but it is not lesser than the previous book at all. it is strictly on par and conveys an amazing story from a time old concept.
Bloody Rose surpasses Kings of the Wyld in emotional depth and character exploration. My only problem with the exploration is that it came and went so quick, I personally would have loved more explanation and adventure into all of the characters pasts and advancement as people. I don't want to call it rushed because this book feels so lovingly crafted and well-tailored, but it left me wanting more in some of the scenes of the characters progression. Where humour was more lacking, not a bad thing, came even stronger and epic characters and I thank Nick for that. Kings of the Wyld had me laughing a lot more and in general felt a bit more epic, but this book had my throat constricting and tightening very often, that is not to say this book is not funny, Eames has a sly way with words and a simple yet wicked humour that works well with me and had me chuckling through the book. Bloody Rose feels more real and gritty in its portrayal and thats where I think it matches book 1.
The Cameos made this book that much more wholesome and epic, each time I heard of a prevalent object or person I had a big smile on my face both from smug satisfaction of recognising them to the indepth and strong ties that the previous "heroes" and items left. It continues on superb universe with ever more interesting personalities. It would be interesting to see some tales from before Clay.
There is not a lot more I have to say; the book is masterfully written by someone who obviously cares for this art with unsurpassed creativity.
Nick, thank you for a wonderful book yet again.
As for the audio production, Audible standard in quality. There was no background noises or distractions. My only gripe is that 3/4 of the male characters sound like Michelangelo from TMNT and the awful whisper shouting that every single audible product seems to have. Katherine did a good job and I actually liked her right off the bat unlike in the previous book, where I had to get "used" to the narrator as his voice was displeasing at first.

A Worthy 2nd!
Kings of the Wyld, is one of my all time favourites, and seeing the next in the series meant I HAD to pre-order. I admit i had my doubts as to how this 2nd book could measure up, but they were misplaced. I didn't want it to end. The longer it went the better it got.
It's funny, its epic and best of all it's got Moog in it!!!!!

A fantastic sequel spoiled by a bland narration
Katherine Fenton's bland narration puts a dampener on a really solid sequel. Bloody Rose is a slower burn than Kings of the Wyld but really picks up once the other shoe drops. The 3rd act of Bloody Rose is fantastically gripping and had me hooked right till the end. It has it's flaws, like slightly cringe-worthy lines from characters or a plot that drags a little compared to it's better paced predecessor, but definitely a great addition to the series.
Unfortunately, I had to read the paperback version to reach the end. The narration is just too bland and unengaging to keep my interest. So many characters share identical voices; one moment that made me laugh was when a character was introduced as having a scratchy and hoarse voice, only to sound exactly like the other male characters.
The narration isn't unbearable by any means, I still reached far enough into the story to reach the bigger plot developments. But it puts a dampener on an otherwise solid sequel. I'd recommend Bloody Rose wholeheartedly but would warn against the audiobook if immersive narration is a sticking point.

extremely good, but not quite as good as the first
Really good overall, very funny, wonderfully written, great narration, decent sequel so if you liked Heart of the Wyld this is definitely worth a listen
Being critical - it is just one step below the first book for me which I think was inevitable - I preferred the original narration and the main band, I laughed a bit more, and I was a bit more invested, something about this felt a bit slower by comparison, especially getting started, and it took me longer to finish than the first, but it is fun and expands on a cool world and has interesting, funny characters.
TLDR;Definitely worth your credit if you liked the first, I would have given the first a 5/5 and this closer to a 4/5, maybe 4.5/5

Not as good as the first
It's ok, but neither the story or the narrator were as good as the first book.

Simply outstanding
This coupled with Kings of the Wylde are 2 of the best books I've listened to in a long long time. Great story telling that conjure the imagination like no other. Highly recommended. Bring on the 3rd instalment.
