Summary
The Sav’ine are dying.
The Hives are crumbling from within, and the leaders are grasping for a solution. Ale’man is part of a desperate move. He hunts his own kind. Trained to be an unemotional ghost, he must seek out and assassinate those Stricken with a disease that is slowly infesting every Sav’ine. Each kill takes a part of himself, and his sanity.
One step away from his own crash into the darkness, a cure is promised. Hidden within the genetic code of a single child. Can Ale’man find the remaining family member to complete the sequence and survive? Or will the Sav’ine disappear from the universe?

"No such thing as a free puppy."
This reader is not usually find of fantasy fiction, but sometimes a title, or series, will stand out far beyond the others, Endemion, for example. And this series by Stacy Bender seems to be another. It is the sixth in the tale of the Sav'ine and, as such, was a little difficult to fully enter at first, this being my first encounter with this completely unknown world. But the writing is so vivid, so visual, so intriguing, that there was never a thought to stop or not continue.
The narrator is Kevin Harding, whose slightly gruff voice perfectly suits the text, and he gives good individual voice to each of the protagonists. Although his pacing is excellent as is his intonation, initially the slight down shift at the end of each sentence FedEx to make listening slightly depressing, especially given that the entire scenario being played out was new. However, this lifted as the story progressed as his voice morphed into the tale itself.
My thanks to the rights holder of Bloodstone Reborn, who, at my request freely gifted me with a complimentary copy of the book via Audiobook Boom. After this, my first encounter with the Sav'ine, I fully intend to seek out the ear!her stories in the series. This book was immaginative, exciting with just the right fight balance, good creative world building and colourful characters, all within an epic scale plot. Definitely recommended for any fantasy readers.
