Haddy Abrams, a dauntless female warrior full of determination and boldness as she resolutely battles both personal demons and a heinous villain out to destroy the world. And yet, secretly, in her dreams, there is a man. A mysterious man she only met eyes with so many years ago – and who seems more a ghost than anything else, now.
Across the globe, the dreams of New York City police detective Wolf James are haunted by visions of a mysterious, dark-eyed woman he once encountered while summiting Mount Rainier in Washington state. Assigned to a covert training operation in the Ukraine and on the eve of his wedding day, Detective James suddenly finds himself face-to-face with the mysterious female warrior, who has captivated his dreams for months. He soon finds himself working with her – with no hesitation. Painstakingly researched, Dr. Farmer has created a novel full of intrigue, mystery, and moments of nail-biting complexity. The plot revolves around the strong, determined characters of Haddy and Wolf, a man and a woman who resolve to fight to save the world from Armageddon – all the while hoping to find a moment, just a moment, for themselves.
I did enjoy listening to this audiobook. I loved that the author narrated it. I loved how crisp and clear his voice was. I could see what was happening in my head like a movie. I did like the cover. Full of action. Which I loved. This was very well researched as he knew the different guns missiles etc. I loved Haddy she was my favourite character. I did like it when Haddy and Wolf met. Very bloody and gory. Which I love. I did love the ending. 5*.

Exciting and Action-Packed with a strong female lead

This is an exciting action packed military thriller to rival the likes of Jack Reacher or Jason Bourne but with a brilliantly strong female lead.
Following Haddy after her last mission, where she took out a notorious islamic extremist, she now has a target on her head.
After escaping one attempt on her life, she's determined to settle the score once and for all.
This was a full on rollercoaster ride right from the off.
With a gripping introduction I couldn't help but be hooked in and raced through this.
I loved that this was written in a diary style, following Haddy on her journey across the world, which kept us grounded and with a clear view of our timeline.
Being set over only 27 days and travelling through 4 different countries, you really get that sense that speed is of the essence and I was swept along on the edge of my seat!
The last day broken down into hours built up that tension and I'm not even sure I was breathing for the last few chapters!
There was a large cast of secondary characters and it took a bit of concentration to keep up - but given the widespread setting, this was definitely necessary.
I loved the authenticity of each and every one of this cast but especially connected with Haddy and Wolf, who although flawed themselves, had me rooting for them all the way!!
A fast-paced, full-on adventure which will keep you turning the pages.
I'd be interested to see what comes next from this author as the writing was amazing!
*I also read this as an audio book and although my review for the novel still stands - I have to say that it was rather difficult to listen to the audio copy.
I usually love a book read by it's author, as they know exactly how they wrote it, what's happening, when and what the characters are thinking/feeling etc - so was really looking forward to this.
However, I found the narration extremely slow and disjointed throughout.
I normally put the speed up to 1.5 to read at my normal reading speed ....but this, I had to ramp right up to X2 and although slightly better, I still found the disjointedness really made it hard to get immersed in.
Luckily, I'd already recently read the print copy and was able to remember how I'd connected with certain bits of the story.
Still a 4* read for me....but the narration really wasn't for me this time I'm afraid - sorry
