Simply a beautiful tale

Truely evocative. Enthralled the senses with images captured , bottled and preserved by a brilliant words smith . Thank you so much.

My favourite

I'm glad that Blackberry Wine made it to an audiobook. It's my favourite book by Joanne Harris. It brings back memories too. Playing on abandoned railway in the 70's and finding plants left of an old signal box garden amongst the weeds. Lovely to hear a book narrated by a northerner too. There aren't enough. Pity about the Irish accent, but mine would have been worse and it doesn't spoil the book as it's only a small part.

Wonderful to listen to an old favourite

I was so pleased when I saw that there was an audible version of this book. I read it years ago and had previously looked for an audio version. it didn't disappoint! Harris creates such a warm atmosphere which makes me want to go back to France.

Characters that stay with you

Charming and intriguing, written in lyrical prose and eloquently read. Ms Harris touches on many issues here without being heavy handed. Like Jane Austen, she lets the reader create the whole picture.

Just as magical as the book

Blackberry Wine was the first book I read by Joanne Harris. I loved it and I have been a fan of all her books ever since. I used to re-read this particular one quite often, especially in Spring. Joe reminds me in many (but not all) ways of my dad. He was a prize winning vegetable grower and wine maker. His name bestows many of the cups of the Gardening and Wine Making clubs in the village in Cambridgeshire where I grew up.

I was so happy to see that an unabridged version of the book was now available, I couldn't bear to listen to a partial retelling so I waited ... I'm so glad I did.

I feel like I've had a lovely holiday in France with characters who are all old friends who I have known and loved for years. Wonderful to live in their world again for a few days and experience all the magic. My favourite book, a marvellous, miraculous story, beautifully told.
