About this listen
My life has been nothing but a lie.
Zev.
When I was bitten, I was thrown into a supernatural world I knew nothing about. Stuck in the moment with nowhere left to go, I followed my instincts and chose to trust a complete stranger. It brought me to Bloodborn Academy: an elite university that was designed specifically for lycans.
However, I learnt very quickly that werewolves and lycans alike are being hunted. So, the school opened their doors to the werewolves as well, hopeful to keep both species safe. Now that I’m within the walls of Bloodborn Academy, I’m discovering things at every corner. Secrets will be revealed. Hidden agendas will be exposed.
Nothing is like I thought it would be. On top of it all, I have an unnatural pull toward the queen bee herself - Roxana Grim. She’s the highest of the lycan bloodlines and hates my guts.
If you can't get enough of books by K. F. Breene, Kelly St. Claire, Annette Marie, Shannon Mayer, Leia Stone, Jaymin Eve, and Laura Thalassa, then you'll be sucked into this paranormal academy romance.

Review
I typically struggle with shorter books but I didn't struggle as much with this one. I'm really trying to broaden my reading genres and this was definitely a good pick. The story starts right away with a little bit of background and then jumps right in. While it was easy to understand there were certain aspects I wish were a little more touched upon. One of the biggest is there is this whole turmoil between Lycans and Werewolves but we're really never told the difference or what happened. Also, the different between the "true" Lycanthropes versus the Royalty Bloodline. And then there were the hunters. I wish this was touched upon a little more to understand the threat of them. I understand the length of the book but I don't think adding a little bit of background would have taken away from the pacing of the book.
Roxana kind of took me for a loop. When she was introduced I really liked her character. She was the heir of the last true Lycanthrope so her family was super important. Roxana seemed like all she wanted was to be treated like normal and she didn't like the abuse of familial lineage that her Dad used. I really liked this about her but then as soon as she reached school, where she was hoping in being treated normal, Roxana acts like a total bitch and better than everyone? It just didn't really match the beginning of the book and I didn't like that. Granted her character does change and I'm so glad because that's what I expected of her.
Zev's story is super interesting as well. He is trust into this supernatural world and it takes him a while to really understand it. Then secrets as the revealed and I liked how they played out. What I didn't like is how he had no idea about this world and then all of the sudden he seems like an expert on it? It just didn't make sense how all of the sudden he understood everything Wolf.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Overall, Bitten Magic by Emera Rose and Liz Knox was enjoyable. Even though this was a shorter book, nothing really felt rushed and I liked the story. I do wish there was a little bit more of the background to fully understand the world but there was enough to get the basic grasp. Roxana and Zev were good characters for the story even though there were some parts that just didn't fit. However, I enjoy them together and I can't wait to see how the story turns out. I would highly recommend this book if you enjoy paranormal romance stories that are a quick read through.
AUDIO REVIEW
Note: The narration does not affect my rating of the book
I absolutely enjoyed this narration. I thought both did such a great job with their respective character. Each voice really fit and it was easy to follow along. If you enjoy audiobooks or are looking to try one for the first time, this would be an great one to do!

Absolutely fantastic
This is a fantastic storyline. With a slight edge to other shift books that I’ve read this story line seems to be a lot more involved. It’s intriguing to see how the characters grow so quickly. Absolutely brilliant performance from both Chloe and Michael. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series.

Bite sized entertainment
At not quite 4,5 hours, this audiobook is a perfect snack of audio entertainment. I love the world build and the different POVs from spoiled princess Roxana and Zev, who comes into his supernatural powers, knowing nothing of their world. Can't wait to find out what their nemesis throws at them next and what they have to overcome before there can be peace.

Paranormal Romance
Bitten Magic by Emera Rose and Liz Knox is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Chloe Ryan and Michael Gallagher. This is the first book in the Bloodborn Academy series.
This is the first book of Emera and Liz's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next.
I really enjoyed getting Zev, Roxana, Jasper, Kori, and Mason's point of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
The book ends on a great cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Bitten Captive to be released on audio.
Chloe and Michael did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like paranormal romances.

Rushed but wanting book 2
This book feels very rushed. It has a great story line but seems very rushed, very quick to move on. It get an extra star because it does leave me wanting the next book!

There is always that thrill when starting a new book by authors that you are not as familiar with is it going to be amazing? Is this really going to kill my pocket buying their backlist? Well with these two together I can definitely say the answer is yes. This story was well crafted the world building was great and the characters were fascinating I can not wait for the next one.
There was also fantastic narration that really highlighted the emotions the characters felt. Fantastic work

Terrific story with a fascinating premise
Bitten Magic is a terrific start to the Bloodborn Academy series; it's a wonderfully written paranormal romance with a fascinating premise. Right from the start, my attention was grabbed. The world-building is excellent with unique factors; Lycans and werewolves are separated into two species. Lycans are purebred with nobility with ancient bloodlines who discriminate against werewolves. Zev, a foster kid with no clue of the existence of the supernatural world, who preferred to avoid people, lived his life by camping out in the woods. He was attacked, bitten, and changed to a werewolf. Roxana is a princess among the Lycans, from an old and very powerful bloodline, Grimm. She hates being a Grimm, but she wears the mask and represents what everyone, especially her parents expect of her, someone to fear and respect.
Zev and Roxana's paths cross at Bloodborn Academy, an elite Lycan Acadamy, it provides education and protection. There are definitely sparks, and the chemistry between them is apparent and charged. The storyline is fast-paste with a sense of mystery, secrets, hidden agendas, and drama with unexpected twists and turns. The ending was spectacular, and I can't wait for the second book to be released.
What really captivated my attention was how well the book is narrated. Chloe Ryan and Michael Gallagher were absolutely amazing. They literally breathed life in the characters and made the story even engrossing. Bitten Magic was a very enjoyable, entertaining, and quick listen, one I highly recommend.

Wow
I must say this book took me by surprise, even if you are a little bit intrigued by the sample, I would say definitely get this book. Yes it is a short book, so jammed packed and before you know it the ending has come, and what an ending it is!! I cannot wait for the next book and see how things continue. The narrative really puts this book over the top, nicely done ✅
