Wow This is everything you could wish for!

Wow what a book, this one had everything you could wish from a time travelling story. This is book two in the Lake Lanier mysteries. Book one is referenced in this one, and some of same group of people are involved.
I have not listened to book one, but I could follow very easily, but because I enjoyed this so much. I have purchased Beneath the Lake and I’m looking forward to listening to it.
Nick Cramer a friend of Lacey and Drew decides to travel back to 2001 9/11 so he can try to save his then girlfriend Carly, Carly died in 9/11 attack. So even though he feels an immense connection to Piper, he wants to set things right before he can move on. So he sets TESS the time travelling device to 7th Sept to set things right.
Those left in the future soon realise somethings are changing and not in a good way. So Piper goes back to try to stop Nick and bring him home.
That’s all about the story that gripped from me from start to finish.
The narration was superb, the voices flowed from character to character so much so I was in the adventure with them. The narrator kept me there, not once breaking the magic. This one is 5 STARS across the board.
Can’t wait to see what is the next instalment in the Lake Lanier Mysteries.

Full of Action and Plot Twists

Beyond the Mist written by Casi McLean and narrated by Amy Deuchler is the second in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series and the first audiobook I have listened to from this author

The first 2 chapters nearly stopped me from listening to this audiobook. Not that it was not technically on point, but it was not to my taste. That does not mean it was not good, there was just something in the cadence and enunciation that made me think it was AI. Bear with me on this as if you listen through past the first two chapters, the narrator settles into the different roles and flows and the performance is excellent. I don't know if it is a technical blip, but it may be worth revisiting it. No matter what though, it is not indicative of the audiobook production as a whole which is outstanding

Beyond the Mist is written at a great pace; full of action, it enhanced the central theme of time travel and the listener is kept rapt with a whole lot of plot twists. The writing has hooked me in and I am looking forward to see what happens next. It is also a great advertisement for the first book

Thank you to StoryOrigin, Casi McLean and Amy Deuchler for this fantastic ALC. My review is left voluntarily and all opinions are my own

5/5

Another 5 stars. Piper gets her own story, and there is still mystery aplenty. From the scientific angle and the ending. Each of the stories so far has totally been worth it.

Great Story and World-Building

Title: Beyond the Mist
Author: Casi McLean
Format: Audio
Narrator: Amy Deuchler
Genre: Time Travel Romantic Suspense
Standalone: Yes but better if you read Beneath the Lake first
Part of a Series: Book 2 of the Lake Lanier Mysteries series
POV: Nick, Piper, Drew and Carly
Steam Level: Steamy but not graphic
4/5

Beyond the Mist is another great book in the Lake Lanier Mysteries series. Nick travels to the past to right a wrong but when he finds out something his actions have dire consequences. I love that we find out more about Drew and the ramifications that happened due to being born from parents from of two different times. I love how Casi McLean plays with time in this series. I'm also looking forward to the next book in the series which is alluded to in the final chapter of Beyond the Mist. This is a great time travel romantic suspense series; one that makes you think and keeps you on your toes.

I received this audiobook for free from Story Origin. This is my honest and voluntary review.

The mysteries continue...

First of all, this is book two in the series. The events of book one are constantly referenced so it is best to listen to or read that first to fully enjoy this audiobook.

That said, this book picks up where the previous book ends. Like the previous book, this book also switched back and forth between the current timeline and the past. Nick decides to travel back in time to save his girlfriend who died in the events surrounding September 11th. It is a bit weird to think about and recreate New York just prior to the 9-11 attacks. Nick knows what is coming up and has some hard choices to make. As does Piper, who volunteers to step back in time to save Nick from tampering (and causing irreparable damage) to the space-time continuum.

This series is quite interesting. It certaining engages the imagination of the reader. It is also well narrated as each character's personality is reflected in Amy Deuchler's performance.

This audiobook was given to me for free at my request and I decided to submit this voluntary review.

Average

A time portal at the bottom of a lake sends people back to 2001 to rescue a victim of the 911 terrorist tragedy.

I found this to be confusing and unremarkable. Maybe reading book one in the series would help but this should read as a stand alone.

Narration was better than the plot but only marginally
