About this listen

This is the epic sea adventure, a harrowing tale of slavery and revolt aboard a Spanish ship, is often regarded as Melville's finest short story. The balance of forces is complete, the atmosphere one of epic significance, the light cast upon the hero intense to the highest degree, the realization of the human soul profound, and the telling of the story orchestrated like a great symphony.Public Domain (P)2009 Blackstone Audio, Inc. One of my ALL TIME favourites

A story set at the turn of the 18th to 19th centuries- a mystery, a tale about perception as well as gross injustice and the reestablishment of order. Melville may be playing with a reader’s loyalties - profoundly disturbing

Excellent Story and Production.

Herman Melville's story comes to life , you can almost feel the trade winds in your face while trying to figure out this masterful psychological thriller on what at first impression is a rescue at sea.
