About this listen
Russian sleeper agent, Hannah Miller, has spent nine long years installed within America’s intelligence agencies. When the private plane carrying a secret weapon she and her boss are on is hijacked - her wait to be activated is finally over.
Jack Davis, ex-boyfriend and former Navy SEAL, is sent in. His primary mission is to recover the secret weapon, but he refuses to leave Hannah behind - not when he still has feelings for her. When mounting evidence points to Hannah as a traitor, Jack must decide where to place his trust. Aiding her could risk his career, but betraying her risks his heart.
When Hannah is framed for murder, Jack convinces her to work with him in a scheme that will reveal the true culprit, unmasking a corruption that has reached some of the highest levels of US government.

Basta
Another great start to the story. Gets you right on edge. Hannah on a mission, is it going to be him who rescue her or not. It’s exciting, dramatic and intriguing I really enjoyed the aspect of Russian agent as well. So many twist and turns you are chattering your teeth throughout. This book has alot of major flare or it. Fast paced action and high stakes make for an exciting read. I hope Amy does more for this series.

Fast paced, full of suspense and romance
I am really enjoying this series and I think this book is definitely my favourite so far. Even though this is book 3, it can be read as a standalone, although I'd recommend reading them in order as other characters do make an odd appearance.
Hannah is a sleeper agent for Russia, and is finally activated. Jack works for Grey Ghost and Hannah is the girl that got away.
I loved Hannah's character, it was a refreshing change to see the female lead be as competent at espionage as the guys, and she was seriously well trained.
I enjoyed the style of the book, the flashbacks to Hannah's youth, helped explain how she ended up where she did and why her loyalty lay where is did, and why she trusted nobody ... until Jack.
Jack is certain that Hannah is his future, but he can't bring himself to trust her completely after he finds out that she is a sky.
The complex plot of this story was brilliant, very well explained and really does keep you guessing until the end. There are several, 'I wasn't expecting that' moments that really add to the suspense.
Definitely a book and series I would recommend.
The narration by Regan Brown is excellent as usual and I enjoy that the same voice is used for all the books. In the series.

Wow I’m speechless
What can I say when I’m left speechless. First of all the book focuses on Hannah and Jack and the stuff that they are going through. Throughout the whole book we get flash backs to Hannah’s child hood past. Which fills us in on some of the events happening now.
Then to end the book we get a bonus of Jack’s backstory and well it’s heartbreaking. But he has proven that he always has had a good heart.
Truly an awesome story.
Regan did another brilliant job on this book.

A fantastic series
Beneath The Surface Audio Book by Amy McKinley is the third book in the Gray Ghost series. With this book you are hooked straight back into the world of the Gray Ghost team with such ease. This story slightly overlaps the previous one in the series and I love you get to see that build up to it all.
Jack and Hannah have to be one of my favourite couples - although with this series I probably say that about them all! To have a history already in place but to have to build up the trust bit by bit was such a fascinating read. What I really enjoyed about this book though is the flashbacks to Hannah’s childhood and how I kept trying to piece everything together.
I have to say that the author us struck gold with the narrator for this series too. I think I enjoy listening to these as much as I do because of her. She has a way to tell the story that just makes it so easy to become absorbed in. This is another fantastic book to another fantastic series. I am already looking forward to the next one!

Romance & High Stakes !
Beneath the Surface is a brilliantly written romantic suspense and terrific addition to the Gray Ghost series. The series premise centres around a group of trained ex-military who are sent on critical and dangerous missions. This segment includes Hannah, a double agent, and Jack, a Gray Ghost member. Hannah's feelings for Jack are in direct conflict with her primary purpose, being a Russian sleeper agent. The story is fast-paced, action-packed, mysterious, unpredictable, thrilling, and totally riveting. The characters are well-rounded, multifaceted, and captivating with complex emotions and feelings. Hannah and Jack's story was incredibly engaging; I couldn't stop listening. Regan Brown's narration is spot-on; she captures both characters' personalities and emotions, as well as the intensity of the scenes, bringing McKinley's words to life. So far, I've really been enjoying the Gray Ghost series, particularly Beneath the Surface. I'm definitely recommending this audiobook.

Fast-paced Romantic Suspense Ride!
Before reviewing this book, there is something worth noting. This book is the third in the series and has references to events that feature in the earlier books. While it is a standalone book, I think the series is best enjoyed in sequence.
That said, oh my goodness! Hanna and Jack are incredibly complex characters with tragic histories. This book is so fast paced with action from almost the beginning. It progresses so quickly, it is actually really difficult to press pause and take a break. I particularly like the way the author, Amy McKinley seamlessly and artistically integrates the past stories into the events currently occurring in the story. She moves the plot gracefully between current and past events without jarring the flow of the story.
I thoroughly enjoyed this romantic suspense, especially the twists and turns that take the story well beyond the ordinary.

A brilliant book
I love this author and have already listen to the first two books in this series and this book does not disappoint, we meet Hannah in the second book briefly but not quite understand how she is in the jungle but this book delves into her background and gets you wanting to hate her but I ended up routing for her and Jack.
The narrator is brilliant and really draws you into the story, I loved the way that the characters react to each other and the drama builds with the twists and turns.
I can't wait to listen to the next book in this instalment.
