About this listen

For as long as Signa Farrow has been alive, the people in her life have fallen like stars....

Orphaned as a baby, 19-year-old Signa has been raised by a string of guardians, each more interested in her wealth than her wellbeing—and each has met an untimely end. Her remaining relatives are the elusive Hawthornes, an eccentric family living at Thorn Grove, an estate both glittering and gloomy.

Its patriarch mourns his late wife through wild parties, while his son grapples for control of the family's waning reputation and his daughter suffers from a mysterious illness. But when their mother's restless spirit appears claiming she was poisoned, Signa realises that the family she depends on could be in grave danger, and enlists the help of a surly stable boy to hunt down the killer.

Signa's best chance of uncovering the murderer, though, is an alliance with Death himself, a fascinating, dangerous shadow who has never been far from her side. Though he's made her life a living hell, Death shows Signa that their growing connection may be more powerful—and more irresistible—than she ever dared imagine.

From New York Times bestselling author Adalyn Grace, Belladonna brings to life a highly romantic gothic-infused world of wealth, desire and betrayal.

Enjoyable Story, Shame About Narration

I really enjoyed this book. I thought the plot was, for the most part, held together well with an interesting dynamic between the main characters.

However, I struggled to settle into the narration. The voices for the female characters, especially the lead, were pleasant and believable. I do wish the male voices were more believable, though. A narrator with more range would definitely give more feeling and emphasis to the darker moments in the book. I'd love to hear death sound as dark and tortured as his description suggests.

Still worth a listen! I'll be listening to the sequel when it comes out in August, although I'm probably hoping for different narration.

Unquestionably brilliant and unique

Gloriously narrated and unpredictable. You never quite know where you’re going and are swept up for the ride.

Very good

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook. Kristin Atherton did a splendid job as a narrator.

This was a great blend of Regency era gothic, paranormal, and murder mystery.
After reading this story, I'm definitely in love with Death. I'm very curious to see how his and Signa's relationship will develop further.

Best Listen in a while!

Loved this book. Loved the story and the narration. Found it well balanced and I didn't get bored, guessed a couple of big plot twists along the way but that didn't make me enjoy it any less. Thought the narrator did a superb job, having had to give up in other books due to the narration, I wad really pleased with this one, really enhanced the characters, particularly death. I also really enjoyed the descriptiveness of the author in her writing. Can't wait till the next book is out!

Best audiobook ever

This is hands down the best audiobook I’ve ever listened to. Kristin Atherton brings the story to life with her narration— normally I much prefer reading as it unbinds the words from voice and tempo but I am sure this book is better for her reading. I will be recommending this book to everyone. Honestly, 5 stars are not enough!!!!

The twists

Yes, yes, yes. Its ya and fun. Murdermistery, death as a companion and she is a realistic heroin.

Trigger warning though there is alot of thalking about death, dying, the afterlife and grief. Its dune well but i did trigger my grief at times.

I so recommend this book.
