I've learned a lot about bees and becoming a beekeeper just from listening to this audiobook! It's very interesting how the female bees will fight to the death to take the place of the queen, and how many eggs the queen lays each season. Taking care of your hives is also vital, including if you leave for trips. Bees need proper caretaking as well! Another fun fact I learned is that bees love the smell of lemongrass. This book addresses so many different areas of being a beekeeper, it will keep you busy, especially if you are in the beginning stages of planning your farm. I highly recommend this book!

I've thought about beekeeping before, I have a couple friends who do it and it looks like a fun hobby. I really like the idea of being more self-sufficient and connected to nature. Having a source of honey and wax would be nice for both personal use and for trading things in a survival type situation. I really enjoyed learning about the history of beekeeping and the more practical aspects like the process to build my first hive and sourcing bees. This is a great crash course on beekeeping!
