Summary

Jenna is a victim of an attack on her college campus. After barely escaping, she manages to make her way to campus security. With the help of the security guard, the local police are called, but she soon learns no one will help her case, and the police and the college administration dismiss her accusation, leaving her feeling empty.

Tired of the whispers and looks from her classmates and professors, she decides to take charge of the situation. Tired of being a victim, she's determined to take her life back. Jenna soon undergoes a dramatic makeover...one that leaves even her best friend unable to recognize her. With her new look and the help of some online self-help videos, she begins her search for her attacker.

In her search, the one thing Jenna didn't expect to find was the handsome, new student, Nic. As she gets to know him, she learns he isn't who he claims to be. It's then Jenna begins to suspect the guy she's fallen for.

As she closes in on her attacker, she makes a few new discoveries, and she can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. As she races against time, will she be able to uncover the identity of her attacker before he strikes again?

He shouldn’t have

Mystery, suspense, intrigue, a crime is committed, but the perpetrator is not convicted and the victim takes it upon herself to right the wrong.
I enjoyed this short story, but the narrator has bad inflection, so disappointing, this is my opinion.

Good Story!

Elaine Marie wrote a good story, with a good lesson to learn. She also gave us mystery and suspense around finding a perpetrator. We even experienced new romances that developed.

The only problem with the book was, it felt like it was being read to me, but I would still recommend it to others.
There's a lesson to be learned in the storyline for all women.

This was a great story of finding your strength after having your power taken away. Jenna was attacked but instead of dwelling on the fear and depression- she finds the strength to remake herself and look for not just revenge but vindication. I enjoyed the story line very much.

The narration was solid- I would have loved a bit more feeling/acting from the narrator but all in all, it was pretty good.

Very good message

This book has a great message for women to be strong and never give up on yourself. Jenna could have become a victim of what happened to her but she re-invents herself and goes after finding vindication. She meets Nic who became an ally along with her best friend who assist her in finding her attacker.

I almost gave up on the audiobook because of the narration. Carly was reading the book and not performing it. Which is how I hear an audiobook, I want to hear an actor performing. It was so faster read than it needed to be and so I slowed down the speed to 90% and it was better.

I love how Elaine write suspenseful stories which showcase strong women overcoming difficulties they have endured.

I was given this audiobook at my request and this is my opinion only. Great writing and story line but had issues with the narrator. Still amazing book because of the story.

Because I can

This was an ok story. There was a good element of suspense. The story and narration moved kind of fast. I think that the story and characters could have been flushed out a bit more. I didn't really feel a connection between the characters or to the characters. What kept me engaged
was wanting to solve the mystery of the attacks.

I thought the narration was ok also. The narrator could have amped the story up with more emotion. At times the story felt flat and like the narrator was speed reading.

Overall it was an ok read/listen

Good

I didn't particularly like the narrator which I felt didn't always convey the right emotion and/or speed. The story, although with a lot of potential and targeting a very important issue was just a bit lacking.

Strong Woman

I liked the storyline of this book, showing the strength and ability to overcome horror. It has suspense, romance and manipulation through fear. Elaine Marie's story was compelling.
Carly read a bit fast paced for me and I felt myself wanting to take a breath for her. Whether I got used to it or she changed as the book went on it didn’t deter me from listening.

Empowering Story with A Little Romance

I really liked this book! Its not very often that I get to read stories of pure self empowerment. I love that the main character is such a strong female and is able to overcome the devastating attack. For the first hour or so of narration I wondered how the author was going to incorporate any kind of romance or love story. I was pleasantly surprised by where the author takes this story. Suprisingly the author was also able to throw in a few twists in this shorter listen.

The narrator did a fabulous job expressing all the various emotions throughout this short listen. Her voice was a great fit for this listen. She did a great job differentiating between characters voices.

Great suspenseful romance with a clever ending

This is a first time reading work from this author for me and I thought it was a promising start. The story was clever with suspense throughout and a clever twist as an ending. I loved Jenna and the fact that although she was insecure and frightened, she was intelligent and strong. It took me some time time to warm up to Nico as I felt he needed a bit more character development before the romance parts. Overall for a short listen this was a great story and definitely worth listening to. I think the narrator Carly needed to slow down and change her voice a bit more for Nico's parts as it was confusing at points who's part it was.
