About this listen
I walk through the door of my cabin to see Kyra is already there, waiting for me anxiously, some soft music playing on my ancient stereo. We begin slowly dancing, her long white gown blowing in the breeze coming through the windows. Suddenly, she disappears like a ghost - imagine that - and I look out to see two young boys lurking around outside, peeking at my windows, hoping to get a look at the crazy guy who lives there - the guy who plays with dead kids and dances with ghosts.
Seeing that their hopes are in vain, they slowly retreat back into the nearby trees, glancing over their shoulders as they go. Once they are out of sight, Kyra reappears, and we begin dancing again, like we do every night at midnight until dawn, until the sun rises up to swallow the moon, leaving me alone again.
Before she vanishes, she always tells me, ''Remember, my love. Of all the lies they tell you out in the cold cruel world, the cruelest lie of all is the one they call love.''
Yes, I always tell her as she fades away, "I remember this all too well."
