Summary
Salten's most famous work is Bambi (1923), or Bambi, in the Woods, also known as Bambi: A Life in the Woods. It was translated into English in 1928 and became a Book-of-the-Month Club success, and then formed the basis of the 1942 animated Disney classic, Bambi.

Outstanding
The story is absolutely outstanding. This unabridged edition is a must-read. The narrator chooses to speak slowly and pauses at odd times, but turn up the playback speed and it’s not even noticeable. For the price, it’s well worth it.

Oh dear
First prize for worse narration.
The narrator sounds like he’s yelling at the mic from a different room.
The story is a classic.
Although the price is very low the audio is that bad - the narrator needs to go.
It’s favourite to either read the book or listen to it using TTS.
It can’t be overstated how dreadful the narrator is.

Oh deer
Sorry to say but the narrator sounds drunk, he constantly mispronounces words (e.g. 'treetrops', 'Bambli') or misreads whole sentences and either doesn't correct himself or audibly goes back and starts over. He also often pauses at odd moments as if confused. The book itself is filled with uncomfortable scenes including a lot of explicit violence and a friendly squirrel basically being tortured as he dies of his wound, absolutely nothing like the tastefully portrayed violence of the Disney movie, shouldn't be targeted at children if that's even what the author intended, I got pretty far because I paid for it but just couldn't finish it, I feel ill listening to it. I do not recommend it! 😱
