About this listen
A murder
A resident of small-town Visberg is found decapitated.
A festival
A cultish hilltop community ‘celebrates’ Pan Night after the apple harvest.
A race against time
As Visberg closes ranks to keep its deadly secrets, there could not be a worse time for Tuva Moodyson to arrive as deputy editor of the local newspaper. Powerful forces are at play, and no one dares speak out. But Tuva senses the story of her career, unaware that perhaps she is the story....

"Just finished Will Dean's Bad Apples. A delicious return to Tuva." (Ann Cleeves)
"Fiendish, funny, scary as hell. Bad Apples is the standout in a truly outstanding series." (Chris Whitaker, author of We Begin at the End)
"Bad Apples is a chilling outing for Tuva Moodyson - unsettling from beginning to the very end, but leavened with dark humour. A compelling thriller that devoted fans and new readers will adore." (Jane Casey, author of the Maeve Kerrigan series)

Weirdness explained
Read this before Red Snow. I had to give up on the latter, as not only was the monosyllabic narration annoying, but the 2 sisters' pop-up shop was a troll too far for me. This book explains it, giving exciting and really interesting descriptions of the pre-Halloween day that reminded me of Grampus Day in Austria (though clearly much darker!).

If I could I’d give it six stars!
I can’t write enough good things about the Tuva Moodyson novels. Not only are they excellent thrillers but they are absolutely beautifully written. Will Dean is one of the best authors I’ve read in a very long time. The books are so descriptive with wonderful eccentric characters. I love Tuva she’s brave with a dry humour. You won’t be disappointed if you choose these books.

soothing
There's something about the author, characters and narrator that just swaths you in comfort. Once enveloped in the story you are encapsulated in another country and culture. The quality of the story is once again engrossing and keeps you engaged to the end. This is the only series that seems to pull off the first person real time narrative effortlessly.

Fabulous again
Once this book got going it was absolutely fantastic … but if a cliff hanger ending … can’t wait to start the next book in the series :-) The narrator Maya is brilliant - love the little twists of humour and sarcasm too!

Oh that ending….
I love the Tuva series. I am not entirely sure I buy what Tuva is doing in remote locations. The narrator portrays nature as menacing, decomposing, twisted and dangerous. The locals are even worse… Fancy a bite of a wasp infested rotting apple? or perhaps attend dark, very dark village celebrations (midsommar style…)? Still the stories are suitably atmospheric and interesting and Tuva has enough love for a handful of people to make this credible. The ending of this one though is an absolute punch in the gut. I am never setting foot in northern Scandinavia, never ever, that is for sure.

Another gripping episode with our friend Tuva
Spine chilling nightmare material. Beautifully narrated. The rich description of the Swedish forests: the smells, the damp, the cold and the insects leave the listener scratching and wheezing. Tuva is a very lovable character; gritty, no nonsense. Toughened by emotional life traumas but sports a dry humour. Tuva encounters more than her fair share of seriously weird hill folk characters in Bad Apples.
