About this listen

She kept moving forward. She didn't stop. She didn't look back.

Lily was abducted from outside her high school gates. For eight long years, she's been locked away from the outside world. During that time she's changed from a girl into a woman. She's had a baby. And now she has seized her chance and escaped.

Running for her life, with her daughter in her arms, she returns to her family and the life she used to know - to her much-loved twin sister, Abby; her mum; her high school boyfriend - and her freedom. But is it possible to go back?

Lily's perfect life as a teenager doesn't exist anymore. Since she's been gone, her family's lives have changed, too, in ways she never could have imagined. Her return, and the revelation of who took her, will send shock waves through the whole community.

Impossible not to listen to in one sitting, Baby Doll is a taut psychological thriller that focuses on family entanglements and the evil that can hide behind a benign facade.

Brilliant, they should make this into a movie!

An inspirational story of strength, endurance and survival of a very brave woman! Great story line. I liked how we got to know all the characters and had jnsight into their lives and thinking, even the evil ones!

Rather slow but worth a listen

The characters are detailed and interesting but the performance irritated me, especially of the men. The plot is slow and could be fitted into half the amount of chapters. I listened to the end, though.

From the depths of despair

A very good and enjoyable read. The story was interesting and dealt with some very delicate subjects. Fluent with a nice easy pace the tale has a twist in the tail which fitted in well with the plot.

Bit slow to start but

Bear with it gets better with some interesting twists. Well narrated apart from some switch to male voice.

Terrible narration at some places in the book!

It was a page turner, or rather a sound buster? But the accents and expressions of the narrator were so poor at some points that I considered offering my services to audible, how much do you pay? I think I could do a better job!

Laurence Bouvard was the perfect narrator

Baby Doll is a fantastic listen. I'm not sure the ending was the best, I felt like the story could have done with a bit more, but I was gripped from the very beginning.

Laurence Bouvard, I honestly think is the best narrator I've heard so far on audible. I usually find something annoying with the narrator, but I loved every word from every character she read.

Dragged on.

Started off OK, but was a lot of filler and could have ended much sooner. Wasn't a particularly interesting or original take on common theme. Quite predictable and eventually became quite boring.

Good story, irritating narrator

The narrator's normal reading voice was good, but for male characters she used a "3 Billy Goats Gruff" cartoon style which interrupted the flow of the story.

Unputdownable!!!

If you could sum up Baby Doll in three words, what would they be?

Twists & turns galore!

What other book might you compare Baby Doll to, and why?

none, this is a book that stands alone, not your ususal who done it, or serial killer novel,,

Which scene did you most enjoy?

i enjoyed them all, but inparticular the scenes with her sister
