While the traditional role of the CFO is well understood, the narrator of this podcast proposes a somewhat radical idea that will literally turn the idea of that role, on its head. What’s more, most CFO’s have already have the resources to carry out this function, in a double win for all. That is, key advisors to the CFO, the Management Accountants. Already face extinction because of AI and other forms of technology related automation, these professionals will now have more time on their hands. Rather than making them redundant the content in this video describes the ways, means and reasons why they will have a bright future, by focusing far more on the future and much less on the past – the traditional realm of all accountants.

The solution proposed is to make the CFO responsible for the operation of a strategy system, rather than just a function. That system, the narrator proposes, is Third Wave Strategy, a concept referred to in the books Corporate Strategy (Remastered) Vols, I and II. That’s not to say the Chief Strategy Officer loses control the corporate strategy domain, they don’t. All is explained in the podcast.
