And then there is old school friend James Steerforth: dashing, daring and seductive. This dramatisation explores the complexities and intimacies of that relationship beyond anything possible in Dickens' day, in an adaptation giving fresh life and vividness to this beloved tale.
The cast also stars Reece Kenwyne Mpudzi as young David Copperfield, Izuka Hoyle as Agnes, Ralph Ineson as Mr Creakle, Indira Varma as Jane Murdstone and Katy Wix as Mrs Micawber.

Exciting, amusing and perceptive!
This lively performance introduced me to a classic that I should have read years ago. I enjoyed it greatly and was struck by its continued relevance. Enjoy!

Like a radio play
I loved this, it was perfectly performed by all. well worth the listen. Classic story, with real feel good heart warming experience.

Can’t fault this.
An excellent adaptation. Well performed by all but I particularly enjoyed the ’umble Mr Heap.

Thought the interpretation of a old classic was very clever.
I really enjoyed this adaptation of an old classic. In Charles Dickens day, it would've been scandalous to outline in detail intimate feelings. I thought it was very well done. I must admit that when I first read the story over 40 years ago, I did wonder why Steerforth rescues David, without even knowing who he was and there are no other incidents where he comes to the rescue of any one else.

Outstanding
Exceptional adaptation. Only problem I had at times was the necessity to use both ear buds. I only wear use one bud when I'm walking the dog and only got one part of a conversation.

superb!

Great work by all involved to bring this classic forwards. not 100% convinced by Steerforth (very well played though) and his interaction with David, but hooked on it while on the roof cleaning gutters. Shout out to Toby J - bloody genius!
