About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
A short and indispensable whistle-stop tour through the most efficient financial habits that will get you on your way to financial freedom. Get to the bottom of the most common money issues via unpicking the psychology behind them - how they reel us in, why we feel we have to keep up with the Joneses and why get-rich-quick schemes are so alluring. What They Don't Teach You About Money will banish your lack of confidence in money matters and make you laugh along the way! It is a call to arms to reclaim your power and make your money work for you, without the shaming finger-wagging or headache-inducing jargon.
Claer Barrett will unveil the reasons why so many of us lack confidence, and why we stay stuck in financial paralysis. From revealing what 'credit' really means (spoiler alert, it's not as positive as they'd like you to think) to the lie that you can easily make money off property, she'll debunk the pervasive money myths perpetuated by those who profit the most from our ignorance. It shouldn't be this hard. In fact, there are simple steps we can all take to streamline our finmin (financial admin). Habits that get us the best deals and make our money work harder for us, rather than bolstering the coffers of others.

Must read for people starting to thinking about their finances
Addresses lots of topics for example how to budget, how to increase income, how taxes work (England, Wales), how mortgage works, tax returns, how to save and where to save and what to save. How to invest in ISA, cash ISA, stocks and shares ISA, what are bonds. How pensions work. Student loan issues.
Very informative and highly recommended for everyone starting with their financial literacy and independence.
Should be a must read for people in their early 20s.

Good book in personal finance
Although I do not live in the UK, this book provides a good introduction in personal finance. Wish this was available before I first started working 2,5 years ago :)
Personally enjoyed the last chapter, regarding our relationship and psychology with money.

Brilliant book!
I have been listening to Claers podcast for the last year and downloaded this straight away! Within a few pages, I knew this would be greet for my 24 year old daughter so immediately ordered the hard copy for her - she’s moving back in after Uni to start saving up so thought it would be perfect! Just finished it, a great, easy to understand and very informative book. I love listening to Claers voice too, thank you!

Good to review the basics
Great book, very well read in a conversational manner. Author is very objective and gives some great tips on money management. It is quite basic and probably more suited for those in their 20s.
I did pick up a few things which I will aim to incorporate.
Everyones circumstances are different & so is everyones world view. Not all advice in here will be suited to everyone. As with most advice, you have to take what works for you.
