Summary

BBC Radio adaptations of Nancy Mitford's most famous novels and acclaimed biography of Madame de Pompadour plus bonus programmes.

The eldest of the notorious Mitford sisters, Nancy Mitford was renowned for her comic novels of upper-class life. An aristocrat and socialite, she mingled with the 'Bright Young Things' in interwar London, and went on to satirise their foibles in razor-sharp, wickedly funny prose. Collected here are adaptations of her two best sellers, the semi-autobiographical The Pursuit of Love and Love in a Cold Climate, her delightful biography of Louis XV's chief mistress, and a pair of fascinating programmes exploring her own unconventional life.

Expected a lot Better.

BBC radio recordings. One has high expectations; here they aren't fulfilled. Performances are uniformly lacklustre. Which given the quality of the raw material is unforgiveable. Bad scripts and lacklustre direction. Some of these Actors could reasonably be expected to have sufficient nous to turn in better performances. Not one of the BBC's finest hours.

No chapters

Hopefully at some point Audible will listen to the feedback that listeners repeatedly ask for chapter headings, rather than expecting us to randomly stab around to find where each section starts! Will update review when I’ve had the time to work out what’s what!
