About the creator
Born in Croydon in 1971, Derren’s big break came in 1999 when he was asked by Channel 4 to put a TV show together – Derren Brown: Mind Control. Since then, his name has become synonymous with the art of psychological manipulation. Amongst a varied TV career, Derren has played Russian Roulette live, convinced middle-managers to commit armed robbery, led the nation in a séance, stuck viewers at home to their sofas and successfully predicted the National Lottery. He has won various awards, including a BAFTA, an RTS Award and two Olivier Awards. In 2017, Derren made his stage debut in New York with his show Secret, winning the 2018 NY Drama Desk award for Unique Theatrical Entertainment. As an author, he has received much praise for his best-selling books, Tricks of the Mind, Confessions of a Conjuror and Happy. After a successful run of his latest theatre show, Derren Brown: Showman in 2021, he is currently preparing for Showman 2022, which kicks off in March 2022.

This is Brilliant!
This is well worth a listen; Darren brings his debonair style to the genre of self help with total success. I’ve listened to hundreds of self help books and I really enjoyed this. He can hold his own amongst my favourites like Louise L Hay, Thich Nhat Hanh and Eckhart Tolle. Giving an overview of advice with input from other authors, it is both enlightening and entertaining. I have always watched Derren Brown with fascination and admiration of both his amazing skills, and his ethics, and I’m so glad he is doing these Audibles. And I just love his sense of humour.

i was a fan of his previous one about the brain. love this one even more.
so well articulated by the ever charismatic Derren Brown. his ability to mix factual information with thought provoking life questions and that topped with sarcastic humor is gold.
i am left with wanting more

Nothing particularly new - but good
I really like Derren Brown and have listened to both of his Boot Camps. I am not in the field of brain science or psychology but even to me, little of this was new info. Didn’t stop it being entertaining though and a useful reminder in some cases. Love his humour too

Fun and uplifting, informative.
Derren presents us with simple, functional and often, fun ways to live happier lives.
Less of a self-help lecture and more of a presentation of various tools which we can select to use to improve or simply accept our situation, and be happier about it in the long-term.

Enjoyable & Comforting
I usually avoid self help books, podcasts and so on like the plague, I always find they make me feel inadequate and overwhelmed with different approaches but when I saw Derren as a long term fan I had to give it a go.
Loved it, Derren is naturally funny and covers concepts and tips without being patronising. Very enjoyable and couldn't help but binge a few episodes. Hope he does more!

"An elephant with a rider on top."
Another fascinating series of eight approximately half-hour ponderings on life and how to make it better by Derren Brown and guests. He covers such topics as The Importance of Being Idle, (reasons to be idle, one, two, three), Hell is other People, and As Time Goes By. Each sections is accompanied by some gentle, hoping music, reminiscent of a fairground or circus, and is narrated by Derren Brown himself, his carefully articulated voice a real pleasure to hear coming, as it seems to be, with a smile behind it and occasional inserted jokes.
Did I learn anything from it? Probably not, but then I am older, I suspect, than most of the target audience. Did I enjoy it? Absolutely.
