About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

1944: newly recruited SOE agent Elisabeth Shepherd is faced with an impossible mission: to parachute behind enemy lines into Nazi-occupied France and monitor the new long-range missiles the Germans are working on.

Her only advice? Trust absolutely no one. With danger lurking at every turn, one wrong move for Elisabeth could spell instant death.

2018: Betty is about to celebrate her 100th birthday. With her carer Tali at her side, she receives an invite from the Century Society to reminisce on the past.

Remembering a life shrouded in secrecy and danger, Betty remains tight-lipped. But when Tali finds a box filled with maps, letters and a gun hidden in Betty's cellar, it becomes clear that Betty's secrets are about to be uncovered....

Nostalgic, heart-pumping and truly thrilling, Operation Moonlight is both a gripping story and a novel that makes you think about a generation of women and men who truly knew what it meant to survive.

Kick-ass Women!!

A brilliant story about some brilliant women in both 1944 and the present day. I felt so emotionally invested in so many of the characters and Louise really brought them to life. This book was hard to put down and easy to enjoy and I’d recommend it to anybody!

Poignant,emotional, charming and heartwarming.

Louise Morrish has masterfully straddled two very different timelines to create a story that examines bravery, loyalty, love and duty.
With colourful characters and memorable locations, Operation Moonlight provides a window into the ravages of the second world war with a lightness of touch that allows the story of the brave women and men who fought for freedom from tyranny to stand out above the horrors that they had no choice but to endure.
Heartwarming and heartbreaking in equal measures, I found this story impossible to put down and it will stay in my heart for a very long time.

Brilliant and immersive

I love WW2 and the stories of the french resistance in particular. This opened up an area I’ve not heard of before and I loved it. Well written, gentle and tender I’d strongly recommend

Mediocre at best

I was so disappointed with this storyline If the France story had been more involved and exciting that might have helped but both stories where boring without direction

Disappointing

This title was based on fact and had real promise but was totally derailed by the ridiculously woke lesbian love story running through it. I also found the narration overly frantic at times. Very disappointing.
