About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
The audiobook of Pyramids is narrated by Alfred Enoch, known for playing Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter film series, and Wes Gibbins in How To Get Away With Murder. BAFTA and Golden Globe award-winning actor Bill Nighy (Love Actually; Pirates of the Caribbean; Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) reads the footnotes, and Peter Serafinowicz (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace; Shaun of the Dead) stars as the voice of Death. Featuring a new theme tune composed by James Hannigan.
'"LOOK AFTER THE DEAD," SAID THE PRIESTS, "AND THE DEAD WOULD LOOK AFTER YOU."'
Young Prince Teppic is sent far away from his desert homeland to the city of Ankh-Morpork for the best education money can buy. Which just so happens to be at the Assassins' Guild.
But when Teppic's father dies suddenly, fate takes him away from assassination to something far more unsavoury: politics. Teppic returns home to the small, penniless kingdom of Djelibeybi to take his place as ruler.
It isn't easy, being a teenage pharaoh. As tradition dictates, the new king must build a monumental pyramid to honour his dead father. But this one might just bankrupt the kingdom, and warp the very fabric of time and space itself...
The Discworld novels can be read in any order but Pyramids is a standalone.
The first book in the Discworld series - The Colour of Magic - was published in 1983. Some elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.
Critic reviews
"The best kind of parody - funny and smart and still a good story." (Mail on Sunday)
"Pratchett remains a consistently clever, charming and funny voice." (Independent)

Brilliant narration!
Pyramids is the discworld book I've always struggled with the most, but Alfred Enoch really brings it to life. Every single character is distinct without being a caricature. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and this is one of the best narrations I've ever heard.

A great title to Go Forth with.
Right from the day it was first published back in 1989, Pyramids has always been one of my favourite Discworld books and this audio version is ~ for me at least ~ as near perfect as it could possibly be. When the narration managed to match how I’d always imagined each character would sound, I knew this one would be a winner and it has already been rewarded with multiple re-listenings.

Fantastic narrator
Obviously the story is great, but the narration on this one is outstanding. Every character - and there are many in this book - gets a distinct and recognisable voice. Looking forward to more in the series read by Mr Enoch.

Excellant listening. Very well read
I really enjoyed this listen. It was read very well, one of the best I have listened to so far in discworld. Rivalling indra Varmas witches. Highly recommended.

Best Discworld Narration
One of the Discworld’s stand-alone stories, Pyramids is witty, very funny and so clever. Lots of laugh out loud moments. The best thing about this audiobook is Alfred Enoch’s narration. His voices are fantastic, to the point that at times I forgot there was only one person reading to me (other than the wonderful Bill Nighy and Peter Serafinowicz, obviously). I wish he’d been given one of the Discworld sub-series to narrate, as I’d love to hear him read more.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book! - it gave me a warm and happy feeling.
I read this book many years ago and really enjoyed it. Terry Pratchett books have accompanied my life for many years, making me laugh, think and even cry at times. His genius is unique. I feel blessed to have read so many of his books and grateful for a magical place like the disc world existence.
Pyramids was less well known to me having read it just once before many years ago. The narrator was excellent- never over done, the characters shone through and his performance did not overwhelm the narrative or Sir Terry’s voice. I could just imagine him typing and chuckling over the words as he wrote. To me it was like I was coming home and it is now one of my favourite audible books of the new series.
I await with anticipation for the Watch books to be released!
I would love to hear Alfred Enoch narrate more of his books. It was so very well done and brilliantly performed. Soothing, witty and poignant. Thank you to all who made this happen. I still have a smile on my face!

Wonderful narration
The narrator clearly understands the context of each character and makes the lines feel natural, and properly articulated, rather than just reading the book aloud.

Wonderful narration, enjoyable Discworld story!
The narration really brought this to life, caught the humour and kept you actively listening. Enjoyed the story overall as a standalone within the world.
