About this listen
When an ex-marine and his highly trained dog are hired to protect the daughter of a Hollywood star, love was the furthest thing from their minds. But when it becomes clear that she is in danger, how far will he go to save her?
Perfect for fans of Nora Roberts, Roxanne St. Claire, heartwarming romantic suspense, and dog lovers everywhere!
Kane Turner is a simple man who cares nothing for riches. Scarred both physically and mentally from his tours as a marine, all Kane cares about is his bike, beer, and dog Bud - and not necessarily in that order. He lives in a trailer on the beach, working security detail for his friend’s company, protecting some of the wealthiest (and most superficial) people in the world with loyal Bud at his side.
Ask anyone and they’d tell you that Lexi Gray-Rockefeller has it all. The daughter of Hollywood royalty, she’s rich, one of the most stunning women in the world with parents who dote on her. Yet Lexi is lonely. All she wants is to work with animals. She doesn’t care for the LA lifestyle, having struggled to make any lasting relationships: People are generally too in awe of her family or befriend her only for what they can get.
Following a series of threats, Kane is hired to protect Lexi, yet despite their world of differences the two of them find themselves falling in love. In Kane (and his dog Bud), Lexi has found an authentic soul who doesn’t care who her parents are or how wealthy she is, while Lexi is the one person who can seemingly heal Kane’s wounds.
When Lexi is kidnapped, Kane only has a short time to save her. Can he find her before time runs out?
Heat level: a hint of steam - nothing graphic.
This book also covers billionaire and military themes. This is a stand-alone book with no cliffhangers, though you'll get the best experience by enjoying the series in order.

Stand alone story
"A Heartwarming Suspenseful Romance for Dog Lovers" sounds like a description for my absolute ideal book. The story was entertaining and I liked the characters. It truly seemed like a stand alone story and if there was set up for any future books, it wasn't obvious. Joanne Ho was a new author for me and I would like to read/listen to more by this author.
Allyson Voller was a new narrator for me, but she did a great job. I would listen to more by this narrator.

Heartwarming romance
I really liked this feel-good heartwarming romance. The characters were loveable and mature. I liked how quick they both overcame their first initial prejudice about one another and opened up their hearts. This story was so refreshing an enjoyable. I loved all those rescue pets but Bud stole my heart. I liked the writing style. I couldn't quite catch the concept behind the title though.
Allyson Voller's narration was very good. I liked her voice and pace. I enjoyed her performance very much. Very good quality too.

Feel-good, pet friendly Romantic Suspense!
I really enjoyed this audiobook. There is so much sweetness in the story. A marine vet with his special canine companion meets his client, a reclusive daughter of stars in LA. If you enjoy your romances with nail-biting moments, plenty of pet fun and lots of romantic angst, this book has it all! It leaves you feeling happy, a little in love and with a desire to get a pet of your own (if you don't have one or another pet if you do!).

Great listen
I loved listening to this audiobook,
Joanne Ho always writes a story that makes you want to be a part of journey. Love with a little mystery and of course who can resist a dog called Bud.

A book made for the silver screen
Wow, I loved this book. I don't normally choose Chick Lit audio books much preferring a good mystery but I really think this author is very talented and as it is a new series I thought I would give it a go. So glad I did, because I loved it. Okay so it wasn't really a mystery in the general sense of the word but it did contain an element of it as to who was threatening Lexi, so I was hooked and didn't want to stop listening. I really liked the characters who were believable as people and like able at the same time but I think Bud the dog stole the show for me. He sounds adorable and a dream dog, I just hope my dog was taking notes on how to behave. There was romance in the story but it didn't bog down the plot or get in the way of tension created by the stalker. If the snippet at end of the book is any indication of what is to come in the next book then I will definitely be looking out for it, even If it is under the heading of romantic suspense.
Kane Turner and his dog Bud have been hired to provide security for another rich kid, he was meant to be getting some time off so he can get the peace and quite he craves after dealing with rich and highly demanding clients that make up the rich and famous. But his boss promise his dog a nice big bone if he will do this one job and then he can have all the time he needs. He had Kane at the mention of treat because who can get in the way of a treat for Bud? His protectee is Lexi Gray-Rockefeller the daughter of the riches and most powerful couple in Hollywood but surprisingly the daughter herself seems shy of the limelight and there have been no recent photos of her since she finished her school days. The family have been getting threatening letters and with a big birthday party planned the power couple want to ensure there families safety and hire Kane and Bud as bodyguards. The problem is Lexi doesn't know about the threats and her parent's want it to stay that way. Can Kane get past his prejudices about the rich and keep Lexi safe? Because there is more to Lexi than just a spoilt rich girl.
I really like the narrator and was pleased to find that she read the story. She has a way of making the tension in the story build without you realising she is do it it, so you can't help but get swept up in the story.

Until the Stars Don't Shine
Very enjoyable audiobook, believable and likeable characters, lots of intrigue and suspense next to the sweet romance developing between the main characters and a bunch of adorable rescue pets.
All brought to live by the narrator doing an excellent job immersing me into the story.
