About this listen
Penguin presents the unabridged, downloadable audiobook edition of The Tombs by Clive Cussler and Thomas Perry, read by Scott Brick.
It's a prize beyond imagination. When an archaeologist excavating a top-secret historical site realises the magnitude of his discovery, he requests help from treasure hunters Sam and Remi Fargo.
In rushing to join him, the Fargos are thrown into their most daring quest to date. The clues point to the hidden tomb of Attila the Hun, the High King who was reportedly buried with a vast fortune of gold and jewels and plunder, a bounty that has never been found.
But as Sam and Remi piece together the puzzle, the trail takes them not to a single tomb but five. And into the path of deadly danger. They are not the only ones hunting for the High King's riches.
The Fargos find themselves pitted against enemies who will stop at nothing to claim the tombs' riches as their own.

The Tombs - A great adventure
Any additional comments?
Another great adventure with the Fargo couple, this time on the trail of treasure hidden by Attila The Hun. Once again the race is on to stop the treasure falling into the wrong hands, and the adventure takes the Fargo's globetrotting in order to try and figure out the clues which lead to the treasure.
A mix of Dan Brown intrigue, coupled with Indiana Jones - type adventure. Highly recommended!

Stupid, annoying, dull... and exciting.
The Fargo's again stupidly ignoring criminal threats.
Convenient coincidences galore - somewhat sloppy / lazy writing. Maybe necessary when trying to cram five rushed treasure finds into one book.
A German professor that sounds like a caricature Nazi officer from a cheap American WW 2 war movie. (... und zey won't find ze vann zat ve hid under ziz hatch.) Not sure if it's written that way, or if it's Scott Brick taking some artistic license in the narration. Either way - it's BAAD.
Usually I've enjoyed the history retelling parts if this series. But this time book is filled with long winded lectures from ze german professor. Dull as dust.
Two GREAT and exciting action sequences does not lift this book above the mediocre level. Suspension of disbelief only works so far.

Can't bear more of the same old formula
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Bought 8 books on the back of the name Clive Cussler. By book 4 it seemed that what happens in each book is the same except the locations and places change.
Would you ever listen to anything by Clive Cussler and Thomas Perry again?
No
What does Scott Brick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Enjoyable narration
Any additional comments?
Shame
