Fascinating

A wonderful look into Dahl's background was sad when it finished I just want to know more about his marvellous life. When did he start writing and why.

Very enjoyable.

A really good story, almost unbelievable but obviously true. The narrator is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Tears of happiness

This book is so adventurous, sad and happy at the same time. I was so blown away by the stories. My favourite part was when he got home. The adventures made me feel that I wished to be with him. This is my favourite book EVER!!

Fantastic!

This is my new favourite!

Dan Stevens calmly reads this enthralling and humble story which is more a series of stories therefore perfect for an audiobook. My husband loves the military element, whilst my daughter (8 yrs old) is enthralled by learning more about her favourite author.

Cannot recommend it enough!

Outstanding

I love how relaxing and interesting the book is. It tells you first hand about the Second World War and the experience that the Roald Dahl himself experienced. I highly recommend and you won't regret it

A wonderfully told adventure

This is such a fabulous book, I read it as a child but coming back to it now as an adult and a mother, I realise what an extraordinary first few years of Adulthood Roald Dahl experienced. The adventure, joy, tragedy and drama is all captured by his beautiful story telling and read fantastically by Dan Stevens. I really can’t recommend this book enough!
