Briggs at his best

An exciting story read by the legend that is Nick Briggs! Dalek voice master also does a great Tennant impression!

Fantastic Doctor Who story in its best traditions

This has everything. Clever storylines, real jeopardy, interesting characters, humour, chases, and ingenious escapes when all looks lost. There are also some genuinely bad tempered Daleks. Who knew that Dalek middle managers got nervous when the boss arrives? The author’s basically recreated the Tennant / Davies golden age and then Nicholas Briggs has done a stellar job at bringing it to life, including a very good David Tennant impression and wonderful Dalek voices. I’d give it all six stars if I could. It’s the template for any Doctor Who adventure. Buy it!

Gripping from start to finish

I can't really decide whether this is brilliantly written or brilliantly read. It's probably a bit of both, but I didn't analyse it a whole lot while I was listening to it because I was too busy being thoroughly entertained. I was a big fan of David Tennant as the Doctor, and listening to this audiobook was almost as if he had returned to the role. I have listened to David Tennant reading Doctor Who stories and, unsurprisingly, they are wonderful entertainment, but this runs a very, very close second to those. Bravo. I'll be scouring Audible for more like this.

Simply brilliant

I have been reading Dr Who Audio books for 15 years and this is possibly the best. Nicholas Briggs is on of the best narrators of audio boos and his knowledge of the Doctor means that he understands the character at the deepest level. It has pace and lacks desire to overcomplicate which can sometimes bog down modern Doctor Who books.

Brilliant

I cant speak more highly of this book or Nic Brigs' narration, simply brilliant

The only negative is that the author seems to ignore completely that the Daleks have been time traveling since the William Hartnell 1965 story the Chase and in the 1986 story.....oh now i sound like a spotter.

Still highly recomended

A Shocking And Thrilling Adventure

An absolute incredible audio book, narrated brilliantly by Nicholas Briggs. Top tier. I was absolutely amazed by the story and enjoyed reading on. The way Briggs changed his voice for every character was absolutely incredible, I also thought his Tenth Doctor impression was decent enough that it kept me hooked. If you have a copy of the novel I absolutely highly recommend reading a long.
Putting Briggs amazing performance aside Trevor Baxendale does an absolutely incredible job making the Daleks a genuine threat and with the dynamics he gives all the characters. No spoilers but the Doctor's and Bowman's dynamic is definitely the most interestingly written.

The Daleks at there BEST!!!

This is undoubtedly one of the best Doctor Who novels you’ll ever read! It’s brilliantly and intelligently written from start to finish. You’ll love it and want to listen to it again and again! If you want a good Dalek story in novel, then this is right up your alley! As a Doctor Who Fan, I highly recommend it

Good story, Superb narration

Downloaded quite a lot of these for my kids as they love Dr Who. Will usually give it a listen for an hour to see if it's suitable as some can be scary and they are young (6 and 8). Wasn't really particulary interested in them myself but this one was different. Sounds weird but it's like the narrator was actually there. It's not like he's just narrating a story, it's like he's reading from his diary or something. Very effective. Quite a dark story, but gripping. I loved it and I'm 40.
