About this listen

A full cast dramatisation of this classic children's book. Pauline, Petrova, and Posy Fossil are not really sisters; even their surname is invented since Great Uncle Matthew(GUM) adopted each of them on his various fossil-hunting trips. When the trio decide to "put our name in the history books because it's our very own", each Fossil uses her individual talents to achieve their joint aim in this captivating story, now a modern children's classic.©1995 BBC Audiobooks Ltd (P)1995 BBC Audiobooks Ltd Classics Fiction Growing Up Growing Up & Facts of Life Literature & Fiction Music & Performing Arts

Charming & a good introduction to theatre

My 3 girls, all under 9 years old, enjoyed this production a lot. The dramatisation was a fresh listening experience after the normal type of narration. It was a great introduction to participation in theatre.
It is mostly just like a radio story. The book doesn’t bring out deep themes or developments. But still enjoyable.

Fantastic Story :Ballet Shoes

Ballet Shoes is a wonderful story and I would recommend it to the people whom love and adore Ballet.

The only thing I would change about it is the chapters. I would let somebody say ' Chapter one or chapter two.💗💗💗💗💗💗🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷🇫🇷

fabulous!

We have all loved listening to this story. Despite it set in an earlier age it echoes scenarios common to all childhoods; being different, finding your place in the world, when life is unfair, character flaws, money trouble, meeting people that can help us, being together even though we are apart....

Twee, but still a classic

I love 'Ballet Shoes', but this adaptation is terribly twee. All the characters are impossibly jolly. A poor realisation of Streatfield's wonderful novel.
Update (2018): having now listened to this many times, I utterly refute my previous review and have changed my rating from 2 to 4. It's charming.
