short sharp and informative.
a brief summery of a technique with suitable warnings (I hope people listen too) before hand. I find the view's are balenced and fair and the information easy to digest. thou I have little interest in being a stage hypnotist I think the techniques useful and intriguing to use on oneself and how he manages to perform his amazing shows. if anything it's too short and would of liked more than a few crumbs off the table. magicians and their tricks.

Honest, informative, caring, responsible and fabulous
It is of course truly excellent to have Derren narrate this book personally.
In content, Derren gives a welcome suggested moral framework for those with an interest in exploring hypnosis.
I believe that he successfully communicates to the listener his genuine care for those that he might hypnotise, and his revulsion for distasteful cheap embarrassment and lack of necessary aftercare of the hypnotised subject.
I believe this to be an excellent first introduction to hypnosis, and my only wish was that he might have offered guidance and/or suggestions about useful and responsible ways to go further for those still interested.
I would definitely recommend this audiobook to anyone wondering about the hypnosis that they have seen Derren use in his shows, or if they have an interest in the subject and would like to know more.

It is ok - however i did not know i would have to install a new programme in order to get it to work. I was quite surprised that it was not compatible with Itunes.

A jewel in the crown of interested parties.
Derren is a fantastically talented TV and stage performer, part of his attraction is the interaction, care and the respect he has for his subjects. This short audio book is a glimpse into Derrens well practiced and finely tuned hypnosis techniques. I would have loved if he had done a full verbatim induction, but totally understand why this can't be done, and shouldn't be done in this format. If anyone is genuinely interested in hypnosis, as I am, I fully recommend this book.

An Introduction into how 2 b as cool as Jesus 1
If you're looking for an Audio book for ?Tricks of the Mind?, then sadly this isn't it. Although there are many E-Books (& similar) claiming to provide short-cuts to Derren Brown's secrets, most are sadly not the genuine article & the best way of discovering his techniques is through reading it.
What this is (in its own words) is 'Crumbs from the Table of the Master'; it is a taster of some of the best bits of the book in order to whet your appetite for the real thing.
This particular section covers Hypnosis. This is better covered in the book (e.g. the Dormitory Elephant), but the glimpse here is revealing into how to create & build a hypnotic 'trance'. Although he is brief, the material here can be used effectively to become an amateur hypnotist since all the technique requires is confidence.
(As an important aside for motorists (such as myself): this section doesn't use any actual hypnotic techniques, so it is alright to use in the car.)
So, this audio clip is not a complete work-through of ?Tricks of the Mind? but is more a glimpse at its contents in order to draw you further into the mystery of his magic.
If you, like me, enjoy audio material that is moderately stretching but not as cerebrally painful as Charles Dickens, then this is surprisingly enjoyable.
If however you are after finding out his secrets (so that you can fool Clod-pates, Halfwits & Harlequins AND Charlie-sat-before-you), then you should get the book instead.
Either way (to use one of the NLP techniques from another section), it is difficult to avoid the allure of the mysterious...

Simply Hypnotic
Derren Brown has received a lot of attention with his Channel 4 TV shows demonstrating the amazing ability to influence people using hypnosis and other psychological techniques. This book gives an excellent overview of the ideas and concepts of hypnosis and how he uses them. He is very careful to describe the difference between theraputic hypnosis and stage hypnosis and the ethics associated with using these techniques. I don't think a beginner could learn hypnosis from scratch using this book alone. He provides a few excellent examples, but does not describe in sufficient detail the process of putting someone into a hypnotic state. With this in mind, I found his insight, entertaining, and engaging. I always prefer books read by the author, and this was particularly well read, and I didn't want to turn it off. I highly recommend this book as it offers great ideas on the ethical use of hypnosis and the effects it can have on people.

Great content, but this is a very sub part of this book. I don’t think it was worth it.
