Summary
Susan the governess has got to find him before morning; otherwise, the sun won't rise. And unfortunately, her only helpers are a raven with an eyeball fixation, the Death of Rats, and an "oh god of hangovers". Worse still, someone is coming down the chimney. This time he's carrying a sack instead of a scythe, but there's something regrettably familiar....Ho, ho, ho. It's true what they say: "You'd better watch out."

Written by a knight, read by a knight.
Excellent narration by Sir Tony Robinson of a winter's tale that's more believable than Christmas. Death is by far my favourite character and he's up to his usual heroics in this story. Written by a knight, read by a knight. Not bad at all!

love it but don't like the teatime voice
luckily teatime doesn't feature too much because the voice acting was weird for him.
Tony R is my favourite TP narrator. I grew up listening to him on the last continent audiobook, he just does the occasional odd character voice

Another Wonderful Tale By Terry Pratchett
Once you're hooked on Terry Pratchett you never go back. This book is no exception to his brilliant collection. The Disc world books don't have to be read in order but the more you read the more running jokes you will pick up on. This story is amazingly funny and made me laugh out load with its main character as Death and his granddaughter trying to save Hogswatch (Christmas).
This particular book is read very well. Tony Robinson is a very good actor and reads beautifully. He is easy to follow and switches between characters voices effortlessly.

Fantastic story, reading so so but overall great
I really enjoyed reading the hogfather just after it came out, I thought I would give it a listen. I loved every bit of the story, however I find that as brilliant an actor as Tony Robinson is, I don't feel that narration is his forte. I find pretty much all the voices the same except death or Teatime. I also had to turn it up to listen to some of the quieter pieces which made the normal too loud, then there were the loud bits. I completely missed anything whispered despite finding the parts where the characters shouted far too loud. I had wished to listen to this before going to sleep but with the volume issue I won't be able to. It is still very much worth listening to, I just wouldn't try it with headphones.

I loved this but i expected the full book
i loved this and found it a lot easier to follow but i was strange it not being the whole book. A lot of the best quotes were missed out too. Happily most of the parts i found boring were missed out too.

An absolute joy.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is one of my all time favourite books and it is brilliantly read by Tony Robinson. The story is pratchett at his best and most satirical, swiping at the way adults look at Xmas and then writing with elegance about how children believe and the power of their belief. Death is always a joyful character, never quite understanding humanity but really trying nonetheless and the villain mister Teatime (pronounced Te-ah-tah-meh) is a wonderfully, over the top bad guy that you enjoy and want to lose at the same time. Susan is back and with her usual, embarrassed my her grandfather, way of dealing with what's happening and coping with the surreal with great aplomb always gets the job done. I absolutely adore this book again and again. I could read this over and over and now i have it on audio i can enjoy it while doing every day chores or on the way to work. I just look a bit odd while laughing to myself at the satire and jokes that keep coming thick and fast. An absolute must for anyone that likes fantasy, comedy and satire and perfect for this time of year with the jolly, holly and other things ending in olly.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Hogfather?
Far too many too mention. Just for one though I'd say the conversation between death and the discworld equivalent of a computer, trying to make it believe in the hog father (father Christmas).
What does Tony Robinson bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
Tony Robinson is a well known fan of Terry Pratchett and has stared in some of the films. He does all the voices well and seems to be really enjoying the absurdity of what he's saying and just seems to fit the material perfectly.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
It always has and always will make me laugh.
Any additional comments?
One of the best seasonal discworld stories. Fantastic.

Brilliant 3h version let down badly by Death!
Tony did a good job on the whole, but anyone wanting the Ian Richardson's Death will be disappointed. Please Tony, re-record this with a Death character voice that doesn't sound like Voldemort!

very abridged
If I wasn't already very familiar with the story I feel this would have been a confusing performance. Still, it was a quick, easy listen and - because I've read it many times - I enjoyed it.

Amazing, but didn’t reach its full potential
Tony robinson does a good job overall, but the voice of death as done by nigel planer (deep and booming as opposed to raspy) is preferable. Story is a beautiful classic but was shocked to find that death’s speach on belief and justice had been cut, however still a great book overall
