Summary
Kia wants more than survival. She wants vengeance and her freedom.
Kia has joined Lord Rial’s elite guard and is collecting secrets. Secrets that can get her killed. The pretense of being Rial's consort offers some protection, but neither of them trusts the other. When the chance for retribution on her father's betrayers comes, she takes it. But there is a price to pay.
Her feelings toward Rial change, and Kia is shocked when she discovers the emperor’s schemes include experiments on his son. If her ambition to destroy the emperor is to succeed, she must rescue Rial. But are her desperate last-minute plans enough to save him?
Buy Awakening Defiance today if you enjoy compelling action and adventure tales with a tenacious heroine who doesn’t know the meaning of defeat. This is the second novel in the riveting Saoirse space saga.

The Story Continues...
This is the middle book in the series and, while it isn't as action-packed as the first, it isn't disappointing. It follows Kia and Lord Rial's relationship. She has vowed her life to his service and protection but it is clear that the two do not trust each other. They will need to overcome this obstacles in order to reach their full potential and achieve their common goals. I enjoyed the back and forth chemistry between the two. There is a lot at stake and Kia, being new to moving amongst the political elite, has a lot to learn. I think this book does a great job of advancing the story. The first book in the series brought the characters together and this book develops their relationships. I am looking forward to the next book which I think should be action-packed and dramatic.
Teagan Kearney writes quite complex characters and plots but leaves the story easy to understand. I found myself listening to the audiobook almost continuously to find out what happens. April Renee West does a great job narrating. I am looking forward to the next audiobook in the series and hope these two pair up again to deliver it!

Absolutely amazing and much much more !
Even so that this is not my preferred genre, I’m so glade that I got to review this incredible masterpiece which the author Teagan Kearney have written !
I’ve just finished listening to this audiobook and I’m still awestruck, it will take me a while to get over it.
Also I only wish that this book was available when I was a teenager because of that even so that the author have written one hell of a Science fiction story which is full of action, technology, friendship, betrayal and love their is much to learn about what right or wrong in life and how easy it is to fall into the wrong side without knowing which could destroy your life or make it really hard to come back into the light.
So what I’m trying to say is that this is not only an awesome story it’s also a teacher about life itself !
The angelic voice of Apryl Renee West narrating with perfection each character also contribute much for turning this book into an amazing audiobook !
Absolutely and without a
doubt, I fully recommend this
Audiobook !!!

A shift in focus
I recieved a review copy of this book. Whilst the storyline progresses, the first half of the book almost feels like an interruption, focusing on the somewhat uncomfortable relationship between the main character and the prince. Once this is resolved however, the story continues with a mix of political drama and action as key elements are unveiled.
