About this listen
I’m an ordinary girl ... but a brooding vampire is about to turn my world upside down
Christopher Deverell is caretaker of the Red Claw Family, a brood of vampires so blood-thirsty that they were forced into slumber for a century by the Council of Elders.
Nell Cartwright’s life has been torn apart after the tragic deaths of her parents. Desperate, she turns to her reclusive aunt in Angel Falls.
Not all is as it seems in the small town … and now an ancient evil is awakening ... as well as her feelings for an enigmatic vampire.
Christopher and Nell are plunged into a dangerous world where Old Magick and supernatural creatures make for heart-stopping adventure.
Anya Kelner has created a thrilling, suspenseful and heart-warming saga set in a rich world of mystery and danger.

There Is No Passion
I'm nearly finished with Book 1, and I have to say, the storytelling lacks passion. Every encounter, subplot, and discovery feels bland, with no buildup or meaningful character development. It's difficult to care about any of the characters. Ironically, the most engaging character is the diner owner, but he barely makes an appearance.
The protagonist feels underdeveloped, with minimal backstory and no defining traits. Then Christopher shows up, captivating everyone with his music, but again, there's no real depth to his character.
As for the werewolf, it feels like a lazy, cookie-cutter addition—just another stereotypical element to complete the obligatory love triangle. The clichéd "enemies to uneasy friendships" dynamic is unoriginal and uninspired.
The plot involving the "bad nest" of vampires waking up despite the obvious consequences is hard to believe. Are we really supposed to accept that centuries-old creatures could be so foolish?
The narrator has a pleasant voice and did her best with the material, but even she sounded like she was struggling to stay engaged.

great narrator....not so good story
I baught this because of the reviews. I listened to 1hr before the end. predictable... I know who was vampire, werewolf early on and the lead lady is slow on the uptake and entirely unaffected by earth shattering events. too much of the book focuses on the open mic night rather than building relationships and the star crossed not so lovers are in love after one not so great kiss (one kiss in whole book so far). don't waste your money. the narrator did a great job with bad content
