Summary
New York Times best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan continues the Montgomery Ink Legacy series with an emotional, friends-to-lovers romance where second chances begin with a promise.
I fell in love with the wrong man and learned the hard way to ask for help.
I don’t plan on falling again and have no intention of trying.
But when I get invited to a high-powered CEO retreat, I know I can’t say no.
And I can’t go alone.
When my frenemy, Nick, invites himself as my escort, I should walk away.
But there’s no stopping the connection we’ve both ignored for far too long.
Only Nick’s past is far darker than he lets the world know, and the shell he encased himself in is stronger than my own. And when the pain from my past comes back with a force, I’m afraid that walking away will be the only choice—even if it breaks us both.

Luke & Nick's story
This is the second book of the Montgomery Ink Legacy series. This is a friends to lover & second chance story. This story brings Lake & Nick together. They are business partners and friends. Lake was still dealing with an abusive ex boyfriend. Loved Nick's gruff exterior. They made a great couple! Really enjoyed Samantha Cook & Oscar Reyes' narration.

Couldn’t stop listening
Nick and Lake made the perfect couple. There were none of the games or miscommunications that many romance books have which I enjoyed. They were funny and I loved the whole family. That ending though …

Loved it
This is the continuation of the legacy books by Carrie Ann Ryan. Absolutely love the story about Lake and Nick. I really like that this couple is quite different to the other characters. I’ve read in the previous series, especially that they keep butting heads on disagreeing quite a lot of things but in the end really like each other, and I like the dynamic of the relationship. I won’t lie at the end of this book. I think I’m absolutely devastated wont go into too much detail but you will want to read or listen to it for yourself but Carrie Ann Ryan has broken me with this sad story ending. It’s nice to listen to other audio narrators that I’ve not listen to before. Did enjoy them. Would recommend this definitely an audio or any Carrie Ann Ryan books in audio

Nick and Lake: Swoon!
Lake is young and successful but she suffered in the romantic area. Nick is her business partner, and the one she always fight with. When they go together to an event, they can’t deny their attraction. I love their banter. They are one special couple but insecurities surface and danger lurks, and the end result i another happy couple at the Montgomery family. The narration on this series and this story totally on point.

Loved Nick and Lake!
I have been itching for this book since reading book 1 in the Montgomery Ink Legacy!
At First Meet was a very enjoyable listen and I adored the characters and Montgomery family.
Lake and Nick have known each other for years but they love to argue and have the frenemy relationship down! I loved watching them each come to terms with their feelings and giving in on their trip away with only one bed and then navigating life back home around their friends and family. They had some hard obstacles to confront to realize just what they meant to each other. This was a quick listen with a great storyline and cast of characters. I highly recommend this book and any book by Carrie Ann Ryan.
Narrators Samantha Cook and Oscar Reyes gave an incredible performance and really gave me an exceptional listening experience.

4 stars
This is my first Montgomery Ink legacy novel. It's always nice to visit with the next generation especially in a series as amazing as Montgomery Ink.
Nick and Lake have many connections although their relationship is made more complicated by circumstances and the palpable sexual tension between them.
Nobody cheered louder than me when they eventually gave in to their attraction...WOW!
However, don't be fooled, this book is so much more than Nick and Lake nd their journey to HEA.
I can't wait for what's to come.

Wow
Just when I thought the last book was my favourite this one comes along and ensures that I love it even more. This had top shelf banter and incredible chemistry ensuring that the pause button was definitely not in my vocabulary. This was an amazing listen from start to finish and the narration pushed it that little further.

another gripping story. Carrie Ann Ryan never fail
Lake and Nick have been friends for years, they have the type of relationship that they can scream at each other one second and banter with each other the next, but they know they're golden. When Lake needed help leaving an abusive relationship Nick was there and he was the one who saw the initial impact of that relationship. He has his own skeletons in his closet which he shares as the story goes on.
As they're business partners and friends they trust each other so when Lake needs a favour, Nick quickly says yes and that's where their story gets hot 🔥 and they finally explore the dynamic chemistry that's been bubbling away under the surface.
Another Montgomery falls in love so another reason to have a cheese party!!
The epilogue OMG have a brand new box of tissues ready as Carrie Ann Ryan produced the most emotional epilogue I have ever read.
