About this listen
Do you say yes even if you want to say no?
Do you feel like you are a people pleaser?
Do you often give in to others at the expense of your own needs?
If you do, and you want to stop being “too nice,” then Assertiveness Training is for you.
Being able to communicate effectively is a critical skill for both professional success and personal relationships. The lack of being able to be assertive heavily impacts your ability for effective communication and can lead to feeling powerless and having low self-esteem.
The good news is that there's a simple solution. By understanding that people-pleasing is a habit and not a trait, you can start working on breaking this habit and replacing it with assertive habits.

You'll receive more than 21 chapters with proven techniques for conquering your habit of being “too nice.” You'll also learn the reasons why you people please and why some people take advantage of people pleasers both consciously and unconsciously.

A helpful place to start
I found this to be book well-structured, containing some helpful exercises and and tips. It appeared to be tailored to those at the very beginning of their journey to assertiveness, as it covers a lot of basics such as assessing your self-esteem and the importance of boundaries.

Very helpful book - life changing for me.
As someone who is and has always been the epitome of a people pleaser, I identified with everything the author wrote. I'm going to re-read this often and try to recall these techniques whenever I'm put in these scenarios.
The narrator is excellent too. He has a very soothing and caring voice which made me feel like he was my personal coach (or shrink lol).

Easy to listen and short
I personally learn best on examples. Wish there were more to find something that would resonate with my life. Overall though I liked how it's broken down to small chunks

Not overly helpful for me
I personally didn’t find this book as helpful as I’d hoped. There was a lot of “how to say no,” and that’s not exactly what I was looking for. Also didn’t really enjoy the narrator.
