Summary
I want to protect him...no matter the cost.
After uncovering a threat to dragons everywhere, my mission was simple - find the mage with the evil magic book, and bring him back home to Emberwood Weyr. There we could figure out what he knew...and what we could do about it.
Finding him was easy...but protecting him is hard.
The more I get to know Daniel, the more I realize that he’s another victim in all this - hunted, afraid, and so beaten down he can’t even recognize a helping hand when it’s offered. He tugs at my heartstrings even while his out of control magic threatens to burn the world down around us.
Good thing I’m fireproof.
Ashes and Flame is a 77k word novel featuring dangerous genies, a mysterious sentient book, uncontrollable magic, and explosive, fiery passion. With a mage too broken to believe in victory, and a dragon determined to save him in spite of it, this third in series is best listened to after book two: Ashes and Grave.

Plot threads connecting all over the place
This is the book in the series where all kinds of problems that have been bubbling in the background all decide to explode at the same time. You have magic books that won't reveal their secrets, mages who can't control their magic and dragons trying to hold the world together while finding their fated mates. Lots of things going on here and it is a real roller coaster ride. Can't wait to see where everything goes from here in the next volume. I love the way this series brings in all the characters we have come to know and love from previous volumes and gives them more than just walk on parts. The performance by Theron LaFountain fit with my imagination of the characterizations and kept me avidly listening.

Another wonderful book in the series!
The plot is getting more complex as the series advance because even if each book can be read as a standalone, it Is much better if the series Is read in order. Another story full of action and danger, in a world of magic and dragones. of course when you added a love story in the mix and a smooth voice, great acting and general performance with Mr LaFountain' s narration, you'd get an amazing book 3. Loved It!

WOW!
I really enjoyed this audiobook. The story really seemed to change from the prior books. This one seemed very much to stand apart, even though the dragons and mages from the prior books were involved. Ivan and his plot are mentioned many times, but the book doesn't necessarily seen to be the instrument of evil I thought. Maybe it is more like it is neither good nor evil, but what you use it for that determines its effect. I liked the appearance of Eros at the end, but it sure did create more questions. This book didn't seem as self-contained as its predecessors, because the story of Res and Daniel is obviously not completed. I hope the next book continues their journey or I will be very disappointed. I loved this story, and the way Daniel and Res's relationship went from sow-burn to burning hot (literally).
The narration was excellent, especially for Daniel and his emotional angst and insecurity.
I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Still magical
Jill Haven and Aiden Bates have added a great story to the series. Theron LaFountain did amazing work with the narration. A very addictive series.
