About this listen

Undoubtedly one of the most celebrated tales of all time, this is both high-octane thriller and fascinating travelogue. Phileas Fogg, intrepid Victorian gentleman about town, accepts a wager that he cannot travel around the world in 80 days. Naturally, he immediately sets off, accompanied by his French manservant, Passepartout. They are pursued by a police officer, Detective Fix, who is foolishly convinced that Fogg is a bank robber. Much hilarity ensues. On the way, Fogg bravely rescues Aouda, a beautiful Indian princess, from a ceremony of ritual sacrifice. Unexpectedly, our thriller becomes a love story.

Absolutely Gripping

A fantastic story set in the Victorian world, with ups and downs and a fair bit of sly humour, all conveyed superbly by the narrator, who never fails to keep you deeply enthralled in the plot and the characters.

Pick this up, you won't regret it.

A classic

Very enjoyable rendering of this classic novel which I first read over 50 years ago so had mostly forgotten.

A classic adventure perfectly retold

I loved Verne when I was a boy but missed a few of his books like this one. When my son started to read it, I wanted to go along the story as well so we could talk about it. I tried this audiobook and was immediately taken away by the incredible performance of Bill Homewood. It’s a joy to listen to - highly recommended!

Very good!

A good story that everyone roughly knows and a fantastic performance once again from Bill Homewood. If you have not listened to him reading The Count of Monte Cristo this is an absolute must. Thanks again Bill!

A thing of it’s time, still enjoyable

Well, this book entertained me, the voice actor was awesome!

I like the simplicity of the concept and it’s a nice easy listen. On the other hand, there are some rather questionable parts regarding different ethnicities. I however realise it’s a thing of it’s time, the book can still be appreciated but just be aware if you are particularly sensitive to this kind of issue.

Philias Foggs Journey

I liked it all. A very good listen Philias Foggs calm and exacting reaction to the problems that rise up to stall and hinder him.
