About this listen
A Space Marine Conquests novel
The Word Bearers have come to despoil the Ecclesiarchy world of Almace - and it will take the Space Marines and the world's secretive leaders working together to prevent an apocalypse....
Listen to It Because:
Apocalypse is all about the biggest battles, and Josh Reynolds delivers that in this tale of three Space Marine Chapters waging war, with the fate of an entire world hanging in the balance.
The Story:
Following the cataclysmic Great Rift, forces from the Imperial Fists, White Scars and Raven Guard mobilise to defend the cardinal world of Almace from an invasion by the twisted traitors of the Word Bearers....
Lieutenant Heyd Calder is a Primaris Marine whose mastery of warfare is matched only by his diplomatic prowess. Under the orders of Roboute Guilliman, he is deployed to Almace, a minor seat of the Ecclesiarchy, to protect the world at whatever cost. Yet even as diabolical forces leer from the system's edge, Calder discovers that the capital's Cardinal-Governor, a sharp, inscrutable figure of spiritual and material authority, is hiding something. When it becomes clear that conquest is not the enemy’s sole aim, Calder resolves to uncover the secret of Almace. As the system is set ablaze, clashes of faith, strategy and politics ensue in the capital, and it becomes clear that the forces of the Ecclesiarchy and the Adeptus Astartes must fight together if they are to have any hope of victory.

engaging story,
the performance is great, there are lots of characters within Warhammer but you can hear the differences given to them

Extremely Good
The book is a great story from both sides with no bias.
The voice acting is amazing with effective use of his skills and no sound effects it is a pleasure to listen to.
Overall a great book and performance.

Great book
Lived how this was performed. The narrator did an awesome job selling the different characters. Really enjoyed the story in general, good plot and action without to many drawn out sections. One of my favourites

EPIC
There isn't any other word to describe this story it was just Epic on every level it had such grand scale and for me hit everything I was looking for in the grim dark future.
The smaller interment moments where fantastic and the characters were built extremely well. Especially the look we got into the word bearers.
I also loved the 3 space marines and the journeys they each took was very unique and fitting for each chapter.
And finally the mvp of this audio book, Richard Reed.
His vocal performances where some of the best I've ever heard. He gave every single character their own unique distinct voices, so you never got confused. He also made each character his own and they all felt real. He gave the whole story the gravity it needed.
I will be looking for more books that He has lent his skills to.
I also Thought the author was amazing and I look forward to experiencing more of his work in the future.
All in all EPIC and a definite recommendation to any 40k fan.

Fantastic
This was a fantastic read! From the writting to the performance, its entertained me throughout. The main characters from both sides were extremely likeable and I found myself rooting for both! I highly recommend this book, brothers!

Up there with deviation of Baal
Rate this book a lot!
Very well written, with great dialog and interplay between the various characters be they Imperial or Renegade.
Definitely a more interesting take on how chaos interact with each other and the similarities and more subtle differences of various characters faith.
Makes it a much more fun read to see both sides of the story, from the protagonists and antagonists point of view. Rather than gibbering lunatics for bad guys and unbearable fanatics as good guys (though there is a classic sprinkling of both still lol).
Highly recommend, goes well with the new raft of books pushing the narrative forward with Guiliman in the universe and the new and old conflicting beliefs. 👍

Is it just me???
I’d previously purchased this audiobook, reported the problem and returned the audiobook to Audible (the only audiobook I’ve ever returned in 8 years as a Member of Audible)!!!
At around 32 minutes in, the audio is damaged with 2 separate sections overlapping, or playing on top each other!!! This fault last for several minutes!!!
I’d hoped Audible might have fixed the problem, when I recently saw the Audiobook in Audible’s recent sale!!! I can’t have been the only person to experience this fault!!! Unfortunately Audible haven’t!!!

Decent read, some great reveals
It was a decent read, though the naivety of Space Marines (who ought to be superhuman also in intellectual terms) was quite jarring. The voice actor did a good job, though some Space Marine characters sounded as if they were shouting all the time. There was a very interesting reveal about the Anchorite, so in terms of fluff it was more than OK.
