About this listen

This is the second story in the Anne of Green Gables series. Skinny little red-haired Anne has changed into a pretty 16-year-old and is all grown up - well, sort of grown up. The story opens with Anne as a school teacher at Avonlea school. When Anne reached the school that first morning, she was confronted by prim rows of "shining morning faces". She had sat up until nearly midnight composing a speech which she had revised and improved painstakingly. It was a wonderful speech with fine ideas. And then, she couldn't remember it!

Anne of Avonlea. Teacher.

Almost a week ago I read Anne of Avonlea from the series Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It is a fascinating story about an orphan that has finally found a home (in the previous book) and now she is 17 years old and teaches in Avonlea School.

She has to help Maryla (the woman that Anne lives with) with the twins that her sister in law left her after she died. Not only she has adventures at school but at home and every were she is. Anne created a club to improve Avonlea and I tell you it will be a disaster but in the end everything turns out fine.

However with all her problems Anne always finds a way to turn that frown up side down. With her imagination you would not help being her friend. It feels like you are there watching Anne arguing with Mr. Harrison (neighbour).

Sometimes I just can’t help myself laughing, even when I’m listening to it on my phone in the streets. The narrator tells it so well that you don’t mind that it’s a man/woman that says it all, you know that that’s Anne and that’s Maryla.

It is much faster than reading the book, and much easier to concentrate on the well written descriptions – like it is happening all around you. Now when I walk to school I am not as bored and like to have walks like that. Audible is great to listen to.

Acceptable

This narrator is average to poor. She ignores punctuation and her style is stilted in places which detracts from the story.
