And Another Thing: Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy is written by Eoin Colfer and is Part Six of this best-selling sci-fi fantasy audiobook series narrated by captivating English actor Simon Jones. The woes of Arthur Dent continue as he endures his impossible search for a cup of tea. He’s tossed back and forth through space with only a terribly depressed alien for company. Dent’s wild adventures are coupled with an unending search for the meaning of life off Earth as the planet he longs for is destroyed, then replaced, then destroyed again. Available now from Audible.
Summary
An Englishman's continuing search through space and time for a decent cup of tea . . . Arthur Dent's accidental association with that wholly remarkable book The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has not been entirely without incident. Arthur has travelled the length, breadth and depth of known, and unknown, space. He has stumbled forwards and backwards through time. He has been blown up, reassembled, cruelly imprisoned, horribly released and colourfully insulted more than is strictly necessary. And, of course, he has comprehensively failed to grasp the meaning of life, the universe and everything.
Arthur has, though, finally made it home to Earth. But that does not mean he has escaped his fate. For Arthur's chances of getting his hands on a decent cuppa are evaporating along with the world's oceans. Because no sooner has he arrived than he finds out that Earth is about to be blown up...again.
And Another Thing...by Eoin Colfer is the rather unexpected, but very welcome, sixth instalment of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy. It features a pantheon of unemployed gods, everyone's favourite renegade Galactic President, a lovestruck green alien, an irritating computer and at least one very large slab of cheese.

You need to be a fan already
Eoin Colfer has captured the feel of the original hitchhiker books perfectly. It was great to hear it narrated by Peter Jones, really took me back. Douglas Adams fans should love it but I suspect if would be fairly meaningless for anyone coming to hitchhiker for the first time.

Amazing!
I truly am a die hard Douglas fan and although this book was technically written be Eoin Colfer you can rarely tell the difference. The off beat humour and eccentric characters are the same as ever and actually made me laugh out loud often such as I have come to expect from this series, it really is a fantastic addition to the trilogy.

No Douglas Adams
If you're expecting a continuation af Adams's work you'll be disappointed. To many english expletives that just don't fit in the guide. The storey does follow the usually guides format of berwildereng coinsidince and general bizarre goings on and on the whole the storey was entertaining.
Simon Jones's reading was great and he made the whole thing worth listening to.

It's not Adams but.........
I laughed out loud as much as I did with the original "trilogy".
Thankfully I listened to Simon Jones narration and was totally sold on this being a legitimate continuation of the hitchhiker story.
Well done Mr Colfer.

fantastic
As Book six of three in one of the best know trilogies, And Another Thing showcases the authors love of the original text. That this text is voiced by the original actor gives it extra canonical properties.

It’s just not Douglas Adams
Unfortunately I didn’t get far into this audiobook before returning it. The narrator is good but the story lacks the intelligent nuances of Douglas Adams. The characters have lost their subtlety and although it appears to be written in the same style, it’s just not right.

As close as you can come ....
Where does And Another Thing... rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Among the top ones
What other book might you compare And Another Thing... to, and why?
The original Adams series
What does Simon Jones bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?
He takes You straight back to the end of book 5
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The way the book starts and explain why our friends are dead and then keeps the story going as you imagine Adams would have is brilliant
Any additional comments?
As a true hitchhiker I love this and cant wait to continue the adventure

Quite hard work
A decent attempt to recreate Douglas Adams’ style but the author seems to be trying too hard to be like him and doesn’t quite hit the mark. I found it tedious at times and broke off to listen to other books. No-one can write like Adams.
