About this listen
A Collars & Cuffs story
Since the death of his submissive lover two years ago, Leo hasn't been living--merely existing. He focuses on making Collars & Cuffs, a BDSM club in Manchester's gay village, successful. That changes the night he and his business partner have their weekly meeting at Severinos. Leo can't keep his eyes off the new server. The shy man seems determined to avoid Leo's gaze, but that's like a red rag to a bull. Leo loves a challenge.
Alex Daniels works at Severinos to scrape together the money to move out on his own. He struggles with coming out, but he's drawn to Leo, the gorgeous guy with the icy-blue eyes who's been eating in his area nearly every night.
Leo won't let Alex's hesitance get in the way. He even keeps him away from the club so as not to scare him. And as for telling Alex that Leo is a dom? Not a good idea. One date becomes two, but date two leads to Leo's bedroom...and Alex discovers things about himself he never realized and never wanted anyone to see.

lovely book
i enjoyed this book leo and Alex were far apart in terms of age and experience but the story took me through their courtship and the BDSM element was hot. there are a few problems with the recording in the later chapters with some repetitive jumping slightly irritating but did not put me off too much. all in all I enjoyed the book and will read more on the series. see how Thomas gets on.

📚📚📚📚📚 Story
Read at 1.10 spreed on Audible.
Master Leo, lonely after losing his lover and sub in a drunk driver accident, with his work partner Thomas they are eating dinner at Sevs restaurant where he use to eat out a lot. He notices a young server and for the first time in years he's interested in another person.
Alex, is young, gay, virgin living with a poisonous family. He's saving up so he can move out on his own and start living his family. He has thoughts and dreams of what type of relationship he would like, but he knows it will never happen. He's not forward enough to actually ask for what he'd like.
When Leo starts dating him he has no idea of the lifestyle Leo leads. Will he ever find out and if he did, how would he feel.
All I'm saying is that Leo gets his HEA but does Alex. The only thing that spoiled this for me is that I believe the narrate is American, the word Ass slips out instead of arse and a few other words are just not pronounced in the English way.

Beautiful story but .... an American narrator?!
What did you like most about An Unlocked Heart?
This is a beautiful story, I love the development of Alex and Leo's relationship, the way BDSM is portrayed in this book is fantastic, it shows the basic principal of Safe, Sane and Consensual. It also shows some of the common pitfalls such as people who don't understand. This is just one of those stories that gives me all of the warm and fuzzies.
What was one of the most memorable moments of An Unlocked Heart?
Oh so many! I love when all the doms show up to move Alex but Alex and Leo in the group room .... OMG So sexy!
Did Nick J. Russo do a good job differentiating each of the characters? How?
He did but I was not that fond of the way he portrayed the doms, especially Leo. These guys have very commanding voices, Leo sounded more insipid than Alex, Thomas was also not good and Miles sounded like a twink! Also Leo seemed to turn into some kind of parody voice that at some points that was frankly creepy!
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This story makes me laugh, cry, need alone time with my kindle, sigh like a love lorn heroine .... all of the feels!
Any additional comments?
This book is written by a UK author and is set in Manchester. Whilst it is not overly British there are British phrases and mannerisms which I why I was very surprised to find the narrator was American! As a narrator I liked him, but not for this book. I am terribly disappointed that someone English could not be found, and I'm not saying I wanted Mancunian accents throughout but some of it just sounded weird coming out of an American's mouth

Good new series from KC Wells
A good start to a new series from K.C. Wells. Collars and Cuffs is a BDSM club in Manchester, England and at least one character is a member.
Leo owns Collars and Cuffs alongside his friend, Thomas, but he hasn't had a partner/submissive since his last one passed away a couple of years ago. He's had no interest, until he returns to what used to be a favourite restaurant and sets his gaze on Alex. Alex has no experience of being out and is confused as to why someone like Leo would be interested in him but as they spend time together, there is clearly a connection and definitely a strong attraction. Leo, at least for now, keeps his kinks quiet but Alex has his own things he'd like to try and when secrets are revealed, they have to both work hard to make sure their relationship survives. Alex really comes into his own as he feels safe under the care of Leo, though they don't always make it easy on themselves with Leo making the biggest misstep but luckily his friends are there to help. It's also wonderful reading how safe and steadfast in following the rules the club is to ensure everyone's protection, doms and subs alike.
There are a lot of really good characters alongside the MC's, very supportive friends who strongly contradict family that seem to do their best to make Alex feel bad about himself. I look forward to reading about the other men we've met in this book and exploring more of the club and Manchester.
Nick does a really good job of narrating this story. Alex's innocence comes through along with Leo's dominance and need to look after the younger man in all aspects of his life. The tone of voice didn't quite match up for me as it was noted towards the beginning about how deep Leo's voice is but for me it was lighter than Alex's while I was expecting it to be the other way round. Overall it's a highly enjoyable story to listen to with Nick carrying the emotion and heat throughout.

Fun story, odd narration
I enjoyed the story, but found myself being thrown out from time to time by the very strange choice to have an American narrator reading a story set in the UK with British characters. The narrator's choice of voices for the doms didn't always give them the sense of gravitas and control they should really have. Despite this I finished the book and liked it enough to get the next one.

Enjoyable Listen
I have read the book of this story, and enjoyed it and so I was happy to listen to the audio of this story. I enjoyed how Nick J. Russo managed to narrate with so many different characters, but sometimes the words were not pronounced the British way, which did annoy me a little, I would have preferred the British sound as this is set in UK.
In spite of all this, listening to the audio was like hearing the story for the first time. I loved Alex as a character, even though I know some people didn't. I guess he reminded me of myself - shy and no confidence at all. He worked in a restaurant, but usually behind the scenes, and you could see he was nervous at being asked to go and take the order from a friend of the boss. Alex liked the look of Leo when he saw him, but he would never approach him!
Now Leo, has been hiding his feelings, since the death of his partner and sub years previously. However, there is a little spark deep inside when he sees Alex, and he does decide to see what happens between them, but only a vanilla relationship as he keeps his BDSM side well hidden - as well as the sort of business he owns. The two begin to date, and I love how they are learning more about each other, but obviously Leo is not being as honest as Alex, and this when someone tries to cause problems, all is revealed, and Alex is very upset that Leo held something so entrenched in his life a secret from him.
With the help of other members of the business that Leo co-owns (a BDSM club), soon Leo and Alex are talking, but I totally get why Alex was upset with Leo over the club, this is a big part of his life and he withheld this from Alex. Leo has some explaining to do, and he will have to be totally honest this time, unless he wants to lose Alex for good.
This is indeed one audio that I will listen to again, but I am also looking forward to listening to more in this series.

Raunchy easy listen
Good story that's easy to listen to - can stop and start and you don't lose the story. Just wish that books set in England were narrated by some one with a UK accent. That I have to say is the one down side to this book.
