About this listen
Some men are born heroes. Others have heroism thrust upon them?
Sorry... Really? Thrust? Anyway, Danny Kendrick was a down-on-his luck performer who always struggled to find his place. He certainly never wanted to be a hero. He just hoped to earn a living doing what he loved.
That all changes when he pisses off the wrong guy and gets sucked into a fantasy realm straight out of a Renaissance Fair.
Getting used to a new world is tough. It's even tougher when you're surrounded by axe-wielding barbarians, super hot elf assassins, strange magic, and a jaded System that doesn't appear interested in being charged with yet another companion.
Danny must adapt fast, turn on the charm, and learn to accept his given Class if he hopes to master it and survive this dangerous new place.
But he has a knack for finding trouble. Gifted what seems like an innocent ancient lute after making a questionable deal with a Hag, Danny becomes the target of mysterious factions who seek to claim its power.
It's up to him, Screenie, and his new barbaric friend, Curr, to uncover the truth and become the heroes nobody knew they needed. And maybe, just maybe, Danny will finally find a place where he belongs. Perhaps, even where he'll thrive.
Jump into this fantasy isekai LitRPG Adventure filled with unforgettable characters, loveable companions, unlikely heroes, slow-build power, progression, and plenty of comedy. It's perfect for fans of Dungeon Crawler Carl, Scott Meyer's Off to be the Hero, and This Trilogy is Broken!
Come for the Adventure, stay for the Laughs!

I haven't laughed so hard in ages
so an interesting thing happened to my wife when I was reading this book.
this book is funny, very very funny. I also co sleep with a toddler.
about seven chapters in my wife is met by a very curious sight. her husband, naked, standing at the top of the stairs, holding onto the stair bannister, donkey laughing into the crook of his arm, crying. and desperately trying to not wake up a sleeping toddler.
aside from the humour, the book tells a really fun engaging story with a lot of heart.
so yeah. five stars

An unexpected surprise!
I've listened to plenty of audiobooks by Bruno, this is my first by Castle. This is also my first LitRPG and I'm hooked. The depth of the characters is fantastic and the humour is just my cuppa tea. I love the levelling up aspect of the story as well. Hays brought the book to life in such a great way, that I'm now on the hunt for more of his narration. I can't recommend this enough and I can't wait for the next installment. Thanks guys.

An MC who really does come off as a regular person
If you are writing a story about a bard, you need music, so hiring SBT is a fantastic choice to really bring the story to life. I've been a fan of Rhett C Brune and Jaime Castle for a while so its always a delight to see what stories they produce and this was a fun tale.

Pleasantly surprised
First and foremost the production value of this audio book is superb. I can't imagine a Bard focused story sans music. It added so much to not only the narrative but also the ambience in every way. The story itself is well written, if not a little predictable. But the characters are developed well and each have a moment to shine. If you are into Litrpg/gamelit this is a great addition to your library.

Mid tier banter
I won't be Carrying on past chapter 21, it's had some decent banter but just a much cringe banter. at this point in the book I have not figured out were the plot is going not too many hooks just lots of social interactions so far.
oh and the bad Scottish accent the "system" has is hard to ignore. overall I think if your just looking for a litRPG with a focus on comedy only, this may be for you, but not my type of thing.

I wasnt terribly hooked
It was fine. Not great, not terrible.I came because Matt Dinniman seemed to recommend it. It was funny at times, as advertised but failed to hook me as a story. The narration is of course great.
If you like thr blurb, give it a shot. If you're on the fence, maybe skip this.
