Summary
The scandal would rip through English society - but how can they resist falling recklessly, irreversibly in love? A series of disasters in Eleanor Lindale’s well-to-do family kept her out of the social whirl where she might have attracted suitors. Now, at age 25, she believes she is irretrievably on the shelf. But her quiet life in Brighton abruptly changes when she’s asked to chaperone her beautiful 17-year-old niece, Lady Aurora Crossways, for a brief season before Aurora’s wedding to Philip Radford, Earl of Huntley. Aurora’s flirtatious and boisterous behavior is difficult for Eleanor to manage. More trying still are Eleanor’s growing feelings for Philip, and his for her. But will Philip’s strong sense of honor prevent him from following his heart?

A disappointing listen
One extremely silly And another not as silly starlets drive this book forward. With the heroes backbone luckily being shown at the end of the book

A kill time listen
The narrator does a decent job, although sometimes she seems to have confused who is speaking, as the male/female tone gets off occasionally.
The story is enjoyable on the whole, with typical regency manners and banter, but the heroine in the last 20% behaves so irrationally and turns such a hypocrite. The hero’s “rushing off the scene without explaining” is an annoying old-school streak.

A fun read.
Romance √ Fun √ Love√ Love thwarted √ Unsuited pairing√ Resolve of crisis √ An enjoyable book. The character's fleshed out beautifully and I was completely entertained. I went through it three time's.

Light, Fluffy, Regency RomCom
This is an engaging tale. Nothing deep and meaningful. Nothing to grab and hold the attention. It’s the equivalent of a cozy mystery, but a Regency Cozy.
I’d be surprised if anyone finds Rory endearing - she’s annoying, spoilt and tedious. Nell starts off well and if there were a follow up tale, I think that she would develop into a very interesting character, perhaps Philip may do so also (@ the Major). But that’s as far as character development goes. Nobody is deeper than 2 dimensional and the plot is not as detailed or complicated as the blurb makes it seem.
On the whole, this is an enjoyable light read, but don’t expect the depth of detail, characters, or plot that you will find from Georgette Heyer or Stella Riley.

Shades of Georgette Heyer
It's such a pleasure to listen to a Regency romance that that is relatively true to the period.

Rather trite story with very annoying narration
I normally enjoy Amanda Scott books as a quick, light read, often with a little humour as light relief. However, this book is so hard to listen to, as the narrator puts a pause in after every couple of words. The story itself is less gripping than many other of Amanda Scott's and as someone else has commented, the characters are not particularly endearing. Perhaps we are meant to view Nel as the heroine, but she has so little backbone when it comes to her family, that you wonder why anyone would choose to write about her.

Hit and miss
This is the 3rd book of Amanda’s that I have listened to. I found this one to be a little silly. The narrator is best on 1.1 speed. She does a decent job, with the materials. At her disposal.

Not worth listening to
A story filled with unlikable, 2D characters and frustrating situations. I enjoy some simple romance tropes, and don't mind overdramatic plots, but this one is simply not enjoyable.
