About this listen
Shopcraft, brewing skills, charisma—it'll take that and more to build the tavern of his dreams.
Pete is a simple man who enjoys a good drink amongst good friends. Not too much to ask, right?
Now, he's trapped in a fantasy world far from home, stuck underground and inside the body of a smelly dwarf with fantastic facial hair.
The worst part?
The swill that the dwarves are falling all over themselves to drink. It's flat, it's watery, and it has the alcohol content of a rancid coconut. Can Pete save the dwarves from their own sour fate, or will he be forever doomed to plink his pickaxe away in hopes that he hits the motherlode?
All he wants is to bring new and better beers to the world, but unfortunately altering dwarven beer is frowned upon. So he has a lot to prove.
Listen to this cozy fantasy adventure filled with laughter, epic fantasy, love, and a little melancholy. It balances progression and slice-of-life with charm aplenty and a charisma score high enough to make a bard blush. Whether you like beer or not, this is set to fill your need for comforting stories.
About the series: Join Pete as he establishes a tavern from the ground up after finding himself in a new world, leveling up his skills in brewing, shopcraft, and much more as he serves eccentric patrons of all shapes and sizes. This cozy fantasy LitRPG is perfect for fans of Legends & Lattes, Cursed Cocktails, and Baking Bad. Does feature some monster fights and injuries. No elves or harems allowed.

A lot better than I expected
This was a very enjoyable read. I wasn't expecting much but I was very surprised and happy I gave it a go. I normally do books that are full of action but this was a nice and steady book there is no stat page ever other chapter and you don't get a In depth description ever time someone uses a skill (skills as not used much.) Definitely worth a try.

Wonderful and cozy
I wrote this review half way through reading and it holds throughout.
Plot: On Earth Peter was a brewer, he started small but by the time he finally passed on his business had expanded. If there is one thing he knew, it was how to brew some good beers, if there were other things he knew it was how to make a good wine to. So when he wakes up as a dwarf, other than the shock, he looks forward to trying Dwarvish brew only...it's a shame it tastes so bad.
So far its been a very cozy read, there has been adventure and intrigue as Peter acts with little awareness of his actions and learns about Dwarven culture. A couple pop culture references (I'd be suprirsed if the writer is not a Terry Pratchett fan) but not over flow. The author seems to really care about beer themselves and throws recipes in throughout the book, not in great detail but enough to give you the idea.
Things I particularly enjoy is the the pacing of the book and actions in it are well timed. When the MC tries to create "Insert drink name" unless it would be a 10 minute job IRL, it takes him weeks to do it. This gives both the book and the character a more measured and "realistic" (you know what I mean) feel to the story, it means the MC can't just Tony Stark high alcohol brews mid battle to use as mollies, and ultimately adds to the story.
I also enjoy having an older MC who doesn't dive into things but also suffers more from being set in his ways and who has to deal with the repercussions of such.
I'd been looking forward to this book since I heard about it on RR, but decided to wait for the polished version and I have not been disappointed.
Overall if you are looking for a cozy read about cooking, this is a great book.
*PS* For some reason I really like that dwarven women have thick beards. May be years of me reading Prachett 🤣

It all
“It’s a cozy fantasy about beer in a dwarf community that holds on a bit too tightly to its traditions. I laughed several times and think it’s well written.”

Need an RPG? I Noah a goat
Beers & Beards by Jolly Jupiter, read by Christian J. Gilliland and published by @AethonBooks. This is definitely a 🍆🍒'grower' and not a 'show-er'. As you read on, the better it gets. No spoilers but the best parts of this book all happen towards the end.
I liked our MC Pete, he's a nice guy trying to make decent beer for the ⛏️ dwarves. His knowledge from Earth on brewing is classed as heretical and so he brews in secret to rid these 🧔♀️ bearded folk of their bad-tasting and disgusting 1% ABV beer. He is challenged along the way.
With the title being what it is, I had not expected the women to have such luscious and incredible beards -- see🪓Gimli from #LoTR💍for context. My favourite thing about this book is the 'goat blaster ale' as well as its advertisement logo of a goat propelled by its fart blaster.
As you can tell, this book is quite light-hearted, silly in a good way and nonsensical to the max. However, I would have enjoyed this novel far more had the story been developed outside of just two or three locations because it sometimes felt a little 🔲 two dimensional in parts.

Just pure amazing!
I love the worldbuilding. The dwarfs, the humour, all the knowledge about beer and food is absolutely amazing and I love every part of it.
The narrator also did an excellent job. The accent of the dwarves might be hard to understand sometimes, but it do wonders for the atmosphere of the story.
I was also quite touched by the reincarnation scene. I did not expect such feels and it hurt me in just the right places. The author truly did justice to describe Main Character's emotions there.
I really love how the whole book feels, how the characters are fleshed out and interesting, how in every process you can see that the author did some solid research and how the world is truly unique and fun in it's own way.
It's definitely a 5/5 for me, and one of my top reads up to date and I recommend it to everyone!

brilliant details about the brewing process put in a nerdy and humourous way.
nothing to dislike. lovable and well written characters, great story with facts and routes both in fantasy and the real world, great pacing.
I just wish the second book was out so I could binge it.
