About this listen

Golden Globe nominee Scarlett Johansson (Lost in Translation, Girl with a Pearl Earring) brings a palpable sense of joy and exuberance to her performance of Lewis Carroll's enduring classic Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. From the White Rabbit and Mad Hatter to the Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts, she imbues each madcap character with a distinct voice and personality that will leave a lasting impression long after the adventure is over.

One hundred and fifty years after its original publication, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland remains one of the most widely read, deconstructed, referenced, and reinterpreted works of Western fiction. It tells the story of the young and imaginative Alice, who grows weary of her storybook, one "without pictures or conversations", and follows a hasty hare underground - to come face to face with a host of strange and fantastic characters.

A classic brought back to life.

This story has a special place in my heart. It's one I remember very fondly of my childhood after having countless books and even an audio book (cassette tape) which I had read and listened to many times.
So when I heard that this version was available I had to get it!
It is read so well and each character was brought to life exceptionally by Scarlett's performance.
The time zipped by so quickly after again having been sucked into the story.
I highly recommend this Audio book to anyone, whether you are new to the story or not. It's a 10 out of 10 from me.

Absolutely beautiful, funny, colourful narrative by Scarlett Johansson. She brings the story to life in such a way you never tire of listening to book. Brings the story to life effortlessly.
The story itself is a true classic and a magical, timeless tale. An adventure like no other that draws you right into your very own wonderland. A book for the whole family.

Unexpected joy!

For whatever reason I never really held out much hope for Scarlett's narration however I am pleased to admit when I'm wrong! Loved it! My favourites were the Queen & the caterpillar!

Can You Dig It?

There’s a reason this book is a classic. If you like bonkers then you’ll love this!

The story is told by Scarlett Johansson who is a fabulous actress and her rendition of this book is great. I loved her voices for each of the characters- always fun.

The book comes alive through her telling of it, and you can tell she enjoyed reading it.

Will look for more work read by her.

The story is so steeped in popular culture, if you’ve not read it you’ll be familiar with passages of it. My headline is the song title from the band The Mock Turtles....
