intricate and satisfying plot
interesting structure creates intrigue and tension. Getting closer to Ahriman in the grimdark 40k 'present'.

alot of words without alot of story
as the title suggests I felt there was alot of words in this book that doesn't tell much of the story, you could read/listen to the begining and the end and not miss much by not listening to the middle. a shame but not a reason not to listen to this, performed well and the general story was fine

Horrific ambient sounds
I have no idea why, 4 hours into the 5th book of this series, they decided to put ambient background sounds into some scenes. As a headphone user (as I imagine the majority of users are) the ambient sounds of engine hum etc is utterly horrific. It feels like your whole head is filled with the sound, and it is exceptionally jarring when it hasn't been historically used in the earlier titles.
The story is as good as ever, but the addition of these unnecessary sounds really spoiled large swathes of the second half of this book. 😒
