Summary

Born a monster. Destined to be a hero. Half-orc. Half-human. All hero.

Lugor is a half-orc, and in his world, that's a very dangerous thing to be. He dreams of becoming an adventurer, slaying monsters and delving into dungeons. Unfortunately for him, one cut to his skin could reveal his secret.

He's forced to spend his days in his small village, working at the smithy and keeping his head down. But when his world is turned upside down in a monster attack on his village, Lugor seeks training at the Adventurer Academy, where he can learn to become the champion that he was born to be. It won't be easy, especially whilst contending against an arrogant mage who is determined to see him fail.

With a steadfast dwarven elementalist and a sarcastic dark-elf necromancer by his side, Lugor sets out to prove that just because he's half-orc doesn't mean he can't be a hero.

This story includes the following:

  • Half-monster protagonist
  • Game mechanics in a fantasy world
  • Sword and board protagonist
  • Crafting abilities like enchantment and blacksmithing

Cracking Tale

A very good story and if sometimes a bit obvious there is some great humour and the use of SBT does wonders for this as the audio is very good .
Being the anti-hero type is quite good and i loved the supporting cast and skills being used and the additional crafting element is good.
The narration helped this along from 4 to 5 stars although my biggest gripe is the chapter end/ stars as the sound effect can be a little loud and sometimes grating .
I requested this audio and have decided to leave my thoughts on this.

Could not stop listening

I loved this book. I loved it so much I got it in audio and purchased the ebooks. The story grips you from the start and I like that it's from a different perspective than you usually get in this genre.

Really well performed.

Brilliant! A must read!

Amazing! Great pace to the story. Characters well rounded but not OP and avoids typecasting based on race. Some really funny laugh out loud moments. I'm super excited for book 2, just take my money now! Well written and fantastically read.

a beautiful adventure

I really enjoyed the pace of this story. there are many twists and turns to keep you listening. the narrators clearly know what they are doing and I like that there is a clear male and female narrator instead of 1 that tries to do all the voices.

Loved it!

Honestly it re-ignited my excitement for finding a good fantasy book again, the story is driven and the characters amazing.

Don't think just buy!
