Summary

'A unique and fascinating thriller which pulled me straight in and took me on an exciting adventure' Ruby Speechley

Six old friends … and a secret they’d all kill to protect.

When Pete and his friends set sail on a private yacht in the Balearics to celebrate Fergus’ upcoming wedding, they’re all looking forward to sun, sea and copious quantities of alcohol.

But there’s a reason they are still entwined in each other’s lives a decade after leaving university. A terrible event they’ve all been trying their hardest to forget.

They say you can’t outrun the past … And these six friends are about to find that out the hard way.

A gripping and addictive thriller perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden and Alex Michaelides

Okay but a bit predictable

I happily listened to the end over a few sunny days but I cannot say that it blew me away. Firstly, I found Pete very annoying. If I had to listen one more time about Carly’s so called betrayal through the one night stand she didn’t tell him about….and the story was a little predictable in that they picked the least likely and made it about him.

Plot is far-fetched but still entertaining!

If you're someone that wants a plot to be 100% believable then this might not be for you. Despite the plot being a little far-fetched, it was still an entertaining listen and I was excited to know who was behind the happenings on the boat. The performance was excellent with each character given a unique voice.

Wow, just wow!

This was one of those books where once I started, I couldn't put it down. I literally stayed up all night reading this! It had everything. It was terrifying, made me laugh, cry, be infuriated, especially with the main character many times, and so many times I've read a thriller sure I have the twist figured out, only to find out I was right. This time, I totally did not see the end coming. The tention was pulpable and almost made me feel like I was there with them, the helpless fly on the wall who could do nothing to stop what was going to happen. Max Dowler was very good, his performance outstanding. He could switch accents effortlessly and give each character their own voice. Claustrophobic, terrifying and a very good read. I can't recommend this book highly enough! I will be keeping an eye out for MA Hunter's next book.

Not Bad

It started off so well but Pete one of the leads was such an annoying character! He never let anything go and was a bit too self righteous at times. Made you feel like giving him a good shake! Nonetheless I finished it and it was OK it would have been so much better if not for him though.

Annoying

I found so much about this tale far fetched..from someone living in the huge basement of the house undetected to the characters themselves. Why decide to have an Englishman, Irishman, a Welshman and a Scot with a Greek (?) as friends, housemates and central characters is beyond me. Maybe to challenge the narrator? Pete the most annoying of all.

Plot is silly

A strange story as the author seems to have never been on a yacht or in the Mediterranean and yet still chose to write a novel centred around these topics. Means the listener is constantly reminded the scenario is completely unrealistic and ruins the continuity. The entire section on what happens at sea is actually ridiculous. Could have been interesting with some more sophisticated plot development, characters are all quite lame also especially the lead… he is constantly whining like a spoilt 12 yr old boy.
