Summary

Rather than accepting God's invitation to enter into his throne room, many Christians hesitate, uncertain and ashamed, just outside the door. There they stand alone, foolishly ignoring the glory Christ offers as he beckons them to his table, to his house. They accept Jesus as their redeemer but can't seem to pass beyond the threshold of their faith, thereby missing out on the joy that awaits them in the presence of God.

In Abide in Christ, Pastor Andrew Murray encourages listeners to live closer to God, in communion and fellowship with him. These 31 heart-searching readings will help listeners accept God's invitation to come closer to him and live in his blessings and glory.

Excellent

I’ve been listening to this over and over again, in an effort to get this teaching into my spirit.
I like that the statements are backed up by scripture and I find the advice practical and very helpful.
It is the type of book that brings about a mind set change and inspires without overwhelming, to draw closer to God and gain a better understanding what abiding is and how it can be accomplished.

Enlightening

I love it. Listened to it twice. I'm sure I'll be listening on a regular basis. It grows the believer's faith in God and really encourages us to allow our Heavenly Father to abide with us.

So opportune

God has been calling me to sit with him, probably all my life. As a restless child, I would sit for a few minutes, even up to an hour but always babbled on about my day, my needs, my wants, and then rush away thinking I had ticked the box for the day. Only recently after the shock of my husband’s death have I slowed down enough to sit with God in stillness. Slowly after months of him holding me in his arms, I am noticing God’s heartbeat. This book resonates with Truth. God’s desire is for you to abide in Him.

I don't know.

is there a 2 tier salvation? are we once saved by the cross and then further saved by works? This is one observation of what the Bible says, though it rings the risk of seeming legalistic and in the hands of Christians, you and me, it could lead to haughty looks and an over arching dogmatism. please be careful with this one. it's a beautiful message that we are free to abide in Christ, though we must remember that it is not through our own strength and that the poor in spirit are blessed as are the rest. so please be careful. probably not one for new Christians but well worth a good and deep think through.

Classic

A classic on what it means to abide in Christ. I particularly like the balance between grace and works as we abide in Christ.

Classic devotional, must read

Timeless in depth study of John 15, and how essential it is for disciples of Christ to find life, hope and strength in Him. Not gimmicky or ego stroking, but loving and comforting as well.
