About this listen
Over three decades and more than 150 million albums, AC/DC has established itself as much more than just a great rock band. For millions of fans spanning several generations across the world, they are an ear-bleedingly loud, sweat-soaked religion, courtesy of such classic albums as Highway to Hell and Back in Black. Now, in a book of astonishing breadth and scope, comes, for the very first time, the complete story of AC/DC. Everything you ever wanted to know and plenty more you never dreamt of is all here, the ultimate balls-out adventure, laced with sex, drunken escapades, and brawls.
It's a journey that started in the suburban Sydney, Australia, bedrooms of brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, boys who could wreak havoc with their guitars. Over their power chords were the lyrics and voice of Bon Scott, who would lead them higher and higher-until his tragic death in 1980. The bittersweet irony after his death was that not only did the Youngs manage to hold together without him, but the band's fortunes and status skyrocketed with his replacement, Brian Johnson, and the album Back in Black.
Five long years in the making, AC/DC: Maximum Rock & Roll is sourced from more than 1,300 interviews the band has given over the past thirty years combined with in excess of 75 of the authors' own interviews with those who worked with AC/DC - both in the studio and on the road - many of whom have never spoken about the band publicly.

A meticulous timeline of the bands career
A very long listen containing a substantial back catalogue of quotes & dates carefully curated. Styg Wemyss does a sterling job maintaining enthusiasm narrating a mammoth timeline, who’s Oz twang sounds uncannily like Angus & Malcolm which enhances the listen (although his English accents on quotes, while adding colour, are best described as ‘iffy’). The details are truthfully recounted and referenced, it avoids the rumour and myths (particularly those that surrounded Bon’s death in recent years) but doesn’t avoid their existence.
As a long term fan of ACDC I was totally absorbed with the story & it’s telling while on holiday - if you are too, I would thoroughly recommend this audiobook, you’ll be in for a long but fascinating ride!

very interesting and enjoyable
loved the book ,so much research went into it.
I will probably listen to it again in the not too distant future.
the only thing that let it down was the narrators really bad job at trying to do accents, I mean the Welsh sounded Scottish in fact most of the accents including the English ones at times sounded Scottish.
Mr narrator, you did a really great job mate but next time don't bother trying to do accents pal.
other than that it was great so thankyou to everyone involved.👍

Lots of waffle for the first 3 hours
The narrators atrocious attempts at accents spoils the whole listen, if your English you speak like a lord or a character from Oliver " don't you know sir" Brian Johnsons impersonation is a mangled Irish/Scottish mess not even close to a Geordie twang and as far as his attempts to imitate the voices of Anguss Malcolm etc, terrible is a kind description, stick to the written word on this one, luckily I got it free via Amazon Prime

Boring and uninteresting
This book is boring and lacks any kind of interest, the problem lies in two areas firstly it would be a great improvement if the narrator could actually speak english and secondly the lead into the book is boring and lacks any form of interest to fans of such an iconic rock band

Maximum Boredom
Are they driven as a band, yes. Are they ruthless, yes. Was there any real insight, not really. The narrators poor accents and general monotone reading is a real switch off.
