KINGDOMS WILL CLASH. CHOOSE YOUR SIDE.

Grey has been revealed as the rightful prince of Emberfall. But the kingdom is crumbling fast, torn between his claim and that of the reigning Prince Rhen and Princess Harper.

Newly crowned as Queen of the enemy kingdom Syhl Shallow, Lia Mara struggles to rule with a gentler hand than her mother. But as Grey moves closer to claiming the crown of Emberfall, both Harper and Lia Mara are forced to question where they stand – and how far they can follow the dictates of their hearts.

Brigid Kemmerer's heart-pounding saga comes to a thrilling climax, as two kingdoms come closer and closer to conflict – and an old enemy resurfaces who could destroy them all.

I enjoyed this series

I made the mistake of reading some reviews for the 3rd book before I started it and I wish I hadn’t. It set me off with thinking this was not going to be the best ending to a series where I should have just listened and made up my own mind as I usually do. I disagree with the reviews that say it was a terrible ending. I do think it would have helped to hear what Wren and Harper decide to do but overall I think the story was good and the fact there was peace and not a war was a good ending. The two couples are still together and in one piece, finding a way to rule and live side by side. I would recommend this series.

Possible Spoilers!

Its not often a series gets better as you read it but I genuinely feel this is the case with HVSBAD, while I wish we had this insight into Rhens mind in book 2 it's better late then never. While Rhen was never my favourite character my a long shot neither was Harper but he deserved more!! There were several loose ends by the end of this series it almost feels like there should be another book to follow up much less it be the end. That being said I really did enjoy Grey and Lia Mara's relationship and interactions a lot more then Harper and Rhens I found the 'my lady' very repetitive so I was happy to see there were very little to none of them like it in this book. I did enjoy it though and it kept me entertained on the might shift!

Underwhelmed- contains spoilers

This book was better than the second but not as good as the first. I can't stand Lia Mara and I can't tell if it's because I was shipping Harper and Grey or because I hate the voice of the actress reading her chapters; possibly both. I really wanted to see a bigger love triangle between Rhen, Harper and Grey but it was practically non-existent. I found the Grey and Lia Mara romance to be ridiculous and the overly obvious plot that she gets pregnant was stupid. I wish I'd stopped at the first book and let my imagination do the rest. The second book was awful and this third is an incredibly underwhelming end to an average trilogy.

fitting end

A good conclusion, enough and the main story was resolved effectively. It was over pretty quick though and some loose ends where left unresolved.

Not the worst ending to a trilogy

Honestly torn between a 2.75 and a 3 star. The problem is after book 2 I just didn’t care about what was going on. I did like this more than book 2 as I do think the lead up to the main conflict in the second half was good but overall the characters just weren’t it.

Loved it!

I bought the first book in the series just to use up a credit and was instantly hooked. I thought the story was going to be predictable and a part of the first book was, as the story progressed though, I became more invested in the characters and couldn’t easily figure out what was going to happen next. The plot is good, storyline is interesting although admittedly I did skip over the romance scenes a bit, there’s only so far you can drag out a first kiss.
If, like me, you’re a fan of a good story, give the first book a listen, be prepared to stay up past bedtime and buy extra credits to find out what happens!

Enjoyable, but triggered a pet peeve

I liked the narrators for the most part, although quite often they misread/changed words from the text and even skipped little chunks at times. I read the physical copy while I listened, so I noticed all those mistakes, which in some cases were important ones because they changed the meaning of what was meant in the story, and people that will only listen to the audiobook might be confused. On the more positive side, I quite enjoyed the story and the narration overall, and I think this was an appropriate end to the series.

A good story well told

I liked the audio performances and I’m looking forward to book 4! It’s hard to write a review with no spoilers lol. Good story, enjoyed it all starting to come together
